Permitless concealed carry, diesel price impact on Refuse Fund, Eclipse task force

Mayor Dave Retterer chaired the Ada Village Council Regular Meeting of March 15, 2022 beginning with the Pledge of Allegiance.

The agenda included approval of bill payments, a resolution for advertising for bids on street paving (approved unanimously), and reports from committees.

In New Business, council approved $1,500 to support Ohio Northern University’s Patriotic Pops concert scheduled for July 2, 2022. Mayor Retter, Bob Simmons, and Jamie Hall reported on an Enterprise Zone Meeting with Associated Plastics and Harvest Pride.

Ada Exempted Village Schools, 725 West North Avenue, will hold the March 2022 Board Of Education meeting and planning session at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 17, 2022

The Village of Ada council will hold a regular meeting at 6:30 p.m. on March 15, 2022. Council meetings are held on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of every month at 6:30 pm. 

Meetings are normally held in Council Chambers, located on the 2nd floor of the Municipal Building, which is located at 115 West Buckeye Ave.  Elevator service is available.

On March 1, the Ada Schools began taking appications for open enrollment for the 2022-2023 school year. The schools will take applications through May 13. Acceptance or transfer by applicants must be indicated by July 1.

The inter-district open enrollment guidelines state:

"No student, once accepted by the Ada Exempted Village Schools, will be displaced should enrollment exceed any stated limits. Native Ada students will have priority over transferring inter-district open enrollment student.   

Established limits:

Grades K-6:    1:25 Pupil/Teacher Ratio Average

Grades 7-8:    1:27 Pupil/Teacher Ratio Average

On March 1 the Ada Village council held a regular meeting and a Streets Committee meeting to discuss improvements to Grandview Boulevard.

REGULAR MEETING

Council approved payment of bills, payroll and updating persons authorized to use village credit cards.

Personnel committee member Bob Simmons recommended and council approved the hiring of Michelle Hall for a clerk position. Eighteen applications were received and three individuals were interviewed.

Interviews for pool cashiers and lifeguards are being scheduled. The village received 40 applications for cashier and 22 for lifeguard; 20 cashiers and 20 lifeguards will be hired.

Kindergarten registration for the Ada Schools 2022-2023 school year will begin on Monday, March 7 and continue through Friday, March 18.
