Ada, Ohio recognized as a 2024 Tree City USA

The Arbor Day Foundation has named Ada, Ohio a 2024 Tree City USA in honor of its commitment to plant, grow and maintain trees to benefit its community.

To earn Tree City USA recognition, a city must uphold four core standards including maintaining a tree board or department, having a community tree ordinance, spending at least $2 per capita on urban forestry and participating in an Arbor Day celebration.

Ada Electricity and gas aggregation program timing depends on the market

In a presentation to Ada Council on March 18, Aspen Energy representatives Jay Sell and Ray Finnegan reported that they do not recommend moving forward immediately with creating electricity and gas aggregation programs due to current high rates. 

They referenced a report from electric and gas supplier NRG that shows prices have gone up since aggregation approval by Ada voters in November 2024. 

They recommended that council consider legislation that would allow the mayor to sign a contract with same-day notice.

The Ada PowderBuff Volleyball Fundraiser on Friday, March 7 saw the Ada High School Senior Class win the finals against the Junior Class. That makes three years in a row this group of students has won.

The event was a Junior class fundraiser for Prom.

Ada Academic Boosters meeting, March 13

The Ada Academic Boosters will hold their March meeting at 6:30 p.m. in the Media Center. 

This parent-run booster club is focused on supporting the academic portions of school life at Ada Schools.

 

Village offers S. Gilbert storm sewer updates by email

The Village of Ada sent the following notice on March 3 regarding email updates on the South Gilbert Storm Sewer Project.

Dear Village of Ada property owner,

Verizon emails some 45810 customers about work-related outages

Some Ada area Verizon customers have received a text message from the telecommunications company advising them of potential disruptions to service in the coming days. A text message received on Friday, February 21 reads as follows: 

"Verizon Msg: We're upgrading our network near Ada, OH 45810 within the next week. You may experience a temporary disruption to your mobile services and/or wireless home internet service. In limited cases, work may shift out as much as 2 weeks. Thanks for your patience as we make the network that America relies on even better."
