Ada baseball squad to be led by two Jakes

ADA - The Ada varsity baseball team is rebuilding after covid cancelled a promising 2020 campaign for those senior-dominated Bulldogs. 

Six prior lettermen and 11 players on the varsity last spring return to lead this year's 16-player roster. 

Veteran Bulldog head coach Jason Campbell enters his eighth year at the helm of the Bulldog program (37-138 overall, 7-57 NWC) optimistic that this could be one of his better defensive clubs at Ada.     

ONU men's golfers 3rd at Muskingum Invitational

ZANESVILLE — Junior Andrew Slusher (Covington) fired a 74 to lead the Ohio Northern men's golf team to a third place finish at the Muskingum Invitational on Monday at the Zanesville Country Club.

The Polar Bears (1-7-2 overall) tied for third out of five teams in a tightly contested team battle with 310 strokes.

Slusher tied for second out of 35 golfers.

Neumann women's medalist at Pioneer Classic 2

Here’s an update on Ohio Northern University women’s golf.
Senior Annika Neumann (Valley City/Avon) was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Golf Player of the Week for the week of March 16-22.

She won Medalist honors with a 78 to lead Ohio Northern to a victory at the Pioneer Classic 2 at River Greens Golf Course in West Lafayette.

Neumann began the week with a third place finish with an 81 at the Pioneer Classic in Beverly, helping ONU finish second of four teams.

She averaged 79.5 strokes per round in her two matches last week.

Women's soccer OAC defensive award to Kristy Catrine

Here’s an update on ONU women’s soccer.
Junior Kristy Catrine (Springboro) was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the week of March 16-22.

This marks the second consecutive week that Catrine has received the honor.

Catrine had two one-save shutout in her second and third career starts in goal last week as the Polar Bears (3-0-0 overall, 3-0-0 OAC) won twice on the road, beating Baldwin Wallace 1-0 and Muskingum 6-0.

Catrine has not allowed a goal in her career and has a 273-minute scoreless streak ongoing.

Northern's Hannah Irmer receives OAC volleyball honors

Here’s an update on Ohio Northern University volleyball, playing this spring.
Junior Hannah Irmer (Indianapolis, Ind./Roncalli) was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week for the week of March 16-22.

She had 76 digs, six aces and 15 assists in four road matches last week.

Irmer had a career-high 29 digs in a 5-set victory over Baldwin Wallace on Tuesday after posting 14 digs in the opening match that night.

She then had 17 and 16 digs in two losses at No. 25 Muskingum on Friday night.

Ada experienced senior class, led by Leona Dalton

ADA - The Ada softball program looks to continue trending upward under second-year head coach Rebecca Dicke behind several experienced returning starters and letter winners.

Coach Dicke is optimistic that the Lady Bulldogs will be improved in 2021. 

"We have real good leadership with five returning seniors," said Dicke. "We have a good group of hard-working girls. We are excited to get back out there and play softball, especially after missing last season."

The team boasts five experienced seniors, two juniors, three sophomores and three freshmen on its 13-player roster.
