ONU spring sports update

Junior Andrew Cochran (Wooster) was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Player of Week for the week of March 29-April 4.

Cochran won 6-3, 6-1 at No. 2 singles and won 8-0 at No. 2 doubles.

This marks the second time this season and the third time in his career that Cochran has received the honor.

He was named Player of the week on March 29, 2021 and March 9, 2020.

Track and field
The Ohio Northern outdoor track and field team won five events and finished second out of five teams at the Polar Bear Spring Invitational on a Sunny and breezy Saturday afternoon at Kerscher Stadium.

Harding sweeps Bulldogs baseball

Ada hosts Grove in NWC opener on Thursday

MARION - The Ada baseball team was swept in two run-rule shortened games at Marion Harding Saturday.

Ada dropped to 1-3 with the 13-3, 12-1 non-league defeats. Meanwhile, MH improved to 3-2 with the pair of victories. 

The Bulldogs led 3-2 in game one before MH reeled off 11 runs in the third through fifth frames to win going away.

In the nightcap, the host Presidents led 2-1 after the first frame. They extended the lead with four runs in the second inning. 

MH plated two runs in the fourth and four more scores in the fourth frame.

The Prexies out-hit the Bulldogs 20-11 in the two games.

Football
Ohio Northern built a 35-3 third quarter lead and held off a furious rally to post a 35-22 football victory over Wilmington on  chilly Friday night at Dial-Roberson Stadium.

The Polar Bears improve to 3-0 overall and are 3-0 in the Ohio Athletic Conference, while the Quakers fall to 2-2, 2-2.

Senior Brody Hahn (Louisville) ran for a 42-yard touchdown and threw for four more scores as ONU built a 35-3 lead with 5:23 left in the third quarter.

Wilmington scored on three of its next four possessions to pull within 35-22 with 3:45 left in the game.

Brody Hahn - Josh Bever receive OAC honors
Ohio Northern senior Brody Hahn (Louisville), sophomore Josh Bever (Ashland) and freshman Peyton Wilson (Lima/Shawnee) all received weekly honors for their efforts in a 47-6 football victory at Capital on Friday night.

Hahn and Wilson were named the Ohio Athletic Conference Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively.

Bever was named to the D3football.com national Team of the Week at defensive end.

Langston McClain competes at state wrestling meet

Ada elementary tudent Langston McClain finished in 3rd place at the 2021 OAC Grade School Division 3 71-pound State Wrestling Championship in late March. The event was held in Youngstown.  (Ada Bulldogs Facebook)
