Ada tennis sweeps WBL Wapak

The match was moved from the outdoor Ada park courts to indoors at Lima due to expected high winds and rain

LIMA - The Ada tennis team whitewashed Wapakoneta 5-0 indoors at the Westwood Tennis and Fitness Club Thursday night.

The match was moved from the outdoor Ada park courts to indoors at Lima due to expected high winds and rain.

The Bulldog netters evened their record at 2-2 after their second consecutive victory. Ada won the match without dropping a set, including two forfeits.

"The players enjoyed playing in the wind-free indoor courts at Westwood," said Ada head coach Dexter Woods. "The match featured many exciting points and good effort from both sides. 

"In each of the contested positions, Ada got off to a fast start in the first set, and Wapak fought back well in the second set to tighten the matches," he added.

Ada senior Miranda Wills upped her season record to 2-2 with a routine win at first singles.

Bulldog junior southpaw Dexter Woods III improved to 4-0 at second singles with a straight-sets victory. 

Senior Cole Anspaugh picked up a win by forfeit at third singles.

Ada junior Brendan Jameson teamed up with sophomore Amelia Alexander at first doubles to win handily over their Redskin competition.

Senior Colton Biederman and soph Connor Daugherty also won at second doubles by forfeit.

Individual match results:
1st singles: Miranda Wills (Ada) defeated Bryce Cousino (W) 6-0, 6-2
2nd singles: Dexter Woods (Ada) def. Connor Coffee (W) 6-2, 6-3     
3rd singles: Cole Anspaugh (Ada) won by forfeit     

1st doubles: Amelia Alexander/Brendan Jameson (Ada) def. Nathan Doll/Angel Coca 6-1, 6-2     
2nd doubles: Colton Biederman/Connor Daugherty (Ada) won by forfeit 

The Bulldogs are scheduled to entertain another WBL foe, unbeaten Ottawa-Glandorf (3-0) Monday, April 12 at 4:30 p.m.
