AHS boys basketball loss at New Knoxville

The visiting Ada High school boys basketball team got outscored 24-14 in the fourth period and lost 66-56 at New Knoxville in a makeup contest Tuesday night, January 24.

The Bulldogs trailed 16-15 after the first period, but rallied to lead 27-23 at halftime. New Knoxville tied it 42-42 after three quarters with a 19-15 third stanza.

AHS swimmers sweep Fostoria

FOSTORIA–The visiting Ada High School girls and boys swim teams swept host Fostoria in a dual meet at the Geary Family YMCA Saturday, January 21.

The Bulldogs beat the Redmen in the combined team meet score, 186 points to 106.

Ada won the girls meet over Fostoria, 112-67. The Bulldog boys beat the Redmen, 74-39.

Ada senior Kaitlyn Bowden, senior Carlie Oldfield and sophomore Lily Baumgartner each won two individual races to lead the Lady Bulldogs.

That trio and senior Kayla Wince also combined to win a pair of relay events as well.

AHS wrestlers 3-2 at Crestview Duals

CONVOY – The Ada High School boys wrestling team won three of five matches at the Crestview Duals tournament this past Saturday, January 14.

Bulldog freshman Silas Riblet fashioned a perfect 5-0 record at the tournament in the 106 lbs. bracket.

Ada’s Cooper Dappert, Colton Cole and Liam Vieira all went 4-1 in their divisions.

Ada was 0-2 in the pool play matches, but rebounded to go 3-0 in the consolation bracket pool.

The Bulldogs beat Defiance, Lincolnview and Paulding, and lost to Crestview and Elida.

AHS girls basketball defeats Ridgemont

The visiting Ada High School girls basketball team raced to a 20-0 lead and cruised to a 55-19 win over county rival Ridgemont Monday evening, January 16.

The Bulldogs improved to 8-8 with the lopsided non-league victory. Meanwhile, the struggling Gopher girls fell to 0-11 with the defeat.

"We had a big lead early and it just grew from there," said Ada head coach Zach Ricker. "It gave us an opportunity to rotate girls and play with different lineups than usual.

"I felt like we shared the ball really well again tonight," he added. 

Bulldog senior guard Courtney Sumner canned 11 baskets with one trey to tally a game-high 23 points.

Ada pressed its way to a 14-0 margin, led 20-0 after the opening stanza and was never threatened. Sumner netted six two-point baskets in the first quarter.

AHS girls swim team 4th at Eagle sprint meet

NORTH ROBINSON--The Ada High School girls swim team finished a strong fourth at the Eagle Invitational sprint meet hosted by Colonel Crawford east of Bucyrus Saturday, January 14.

Ada sophomore Lily Baumgartner won two events and set a meet record in capturing the 50 freestyle race. She also came within .60 of breaking the meet record while winning the 100 individual medley.

Bulldog senior Carlie Oldfield won the 50 backstroke and took second in the 25 freestyle.

AHS girls basketball dominates Calvary Christian

Playing at home, the Ada High School girls basketball team defeated Calvary Christian convincingly 51-27 in a non-conference game early Saturday afternoon, January 14.

The Bulldogs improved to 7-8 with the victory, while CC fell to 6-2 with the defeat.

"It was a great team win," said Ada head coach Zach Ricker. "It was nice to come out on a quick turnaround and get a win after Thursday night. 

"It was probably our most balanced game of the year offensively," he added.
