ONU Women's Golf shatters 18 and 36 hole school records

TIFFIN—The Ohio Northern women's golf team shattered the school's 18 and 36-hole team records, firing a 309-302—611 to win the 7-team Heidelberg Fall Invitational Saturday-Sunday, September 16-17 at the Fostoria Country Club.

Results
The Polar Bears shot a 309-302—611 to win the tournament.

ONU broke the previous 36-hole school record of 621 by a full 10 strokes.

The final round 302 was four shots better than the old record of 306.

That 302 helped ONU break a 309-309 first round tie with Mount Union and win the tournament by 15 strokes.

Mount Union finished with a 626, Wittenberg was third with a 631 and Washington and Jefferson (pa.) was fourth with a 678.

Individually, senior Grace Honigford (West Chester/Lakota East) won Medalist honors with a 72-73 — 145.

Notables
Honigford has won Medalist honors in both tournament this season and an impressive 17 times in her career.

Junior Marisa Alfes (Bellbrook) finished second with a 74-77—151.

Junior Amelia Burger (Centerville) was fourth with a 77-77—154.

Senior Torrie Smith (Kokomo, Ind./Western) finished with an 86-90—176.

ONU head coach Chad Bucci is 410-254-2 in his 11th season at the helm.
