July 21 Open House for Ready, Set, Grow Preschool

Ready, Set, Grow Preschool, 301 N. Main St., will be hosting an Open House for new students from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 21. The center accepts students who are ages 3 through Grade 5.

Ready, Set, Grow offers flexible scheduling for full and half day child care, preschool and after school care. Ready, Set, Grow Preschool is locally owned and operated.

Gator boys 3rd after day 1 of WOAL swim meet; Agozzino wins 3, Baumgartner 2

The Ada boys summer swim team is in a solid third place out of eight teams after the first day of the 40th annual Western Ohio Aquatic League championship meet at the Wapakoneta Community Pool concluded Friday.

Ada's Olivia Agozzino won three races on the first day in the girls 9-10 age bracket. 

Lady Alligator Lily Baumgartner (15-18) touched first in two events, and she also swam a leg for the winning Ada medley relay quartet.

The Ada boys trail only Bluffton and Wapakoneta, while the Alligator girls stand seventh out of eight teams.

McGuffey movie night postoned

Due to a forecast for rain, the Family Outdoor Movie Night is cancelled for this evening, July 8, in McGuffey.

McGuffey Memories Historical Society has announced it will plan another date.

Wheat harvest following rains

HARDIN COUNTY, Ohio–While many areas of Ohio have already successfully harvested wheat, there are fields that still need to be harvested. With rainfall this week, harvest may be delayed. Late harvest coupled with excessive rainfall means more time for late-season mold growth, mycotoxin accumulation, test weight reduction, and sprouting; all of which could result in poor overall grain quality.

Billenstein and Casper on ballot for Hardin SWCD Board of Supervisors

The Hardin Soil and Water Conservation District will be holding the 75th Election of Supervisors at the Annual Meeting being held in conjunction with Customer Appreciation Day.

  • 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 18, 2022
  • Shelter house north of the Community Building at the Hardin County Fairgrounds, Kenton

Voting will be from 5:00-6:30 p.m. and a light meal will be served from 5:00-6:30 p.m. 

Downtown Ada art gallery celebrates 7th year

Friday, July 8 is the 7th anniversary for Ada's Gallery for the Arts, 115 S Main St. The gallery is a project devised and run by retired art teacher Ruth Roider, who opened the shop when she was downsizing and needed a place to do her own art work.

Roider operates the gallery as a non-profit, cash-only showcase and sales outlet for local artists. She pays the rent and doesn’t take a commission. Every penny goes back to the artists.
