The Hardin County Sheep Improvement Association holds its annual lamb banquet on Saturday, March 7, at St. John’s Evangelical Church in Kenton at 6:30 p.m.
Tickets can be reserved from the Extension office, 419-674-2297, and paid for at the door. Adult tickets are $15, children $7, and 2019 Hardin County Junior Fair sheep exhibitors are free with a reservation given to the Extension office by Feb. 28.
Do you need assistance with your village income taxes?
The Village of Ada uses the services of Central Collection Agency (CCA) Division of Taxation for filing and payment of village income taxes. As a service to its customers, CCA schedules on- site taxpayer assistance.
Auditors from CCA will be at the Ada Depot on Saturday, March 21, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Auditors will be able to assist taxpayers with their Village of Ada income tax form preparations.
CCA also handles income tax from the Village of Alger.

Chocolate is the word at the Ada Public Library this month.
On Monday, Feb. 17, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. is a chocolate Olympics for 6th graders through senior high school students.
Then, on Saturday, Feb. 22, is one of the most popular events on the library’s calendar. It’s the Great Chocolate bake off. It’s open to all ages, but participants must sign-up in advance. There’s an entry division for youth and one for adults.
Last year’s winners were the mother-son team of Erin and Timothy Chrissobolis.
Timothy entered a brownie cake with cookie butter frosting. His mom entered an Oreo chocolate cake.
How engineering at NASA is evolving - Spotts Lecture Feb. 17

Julie Grantier of NASA Glenn Research Center will discuss “Shooting for Mars: How Engineering at NASA is Evolving” at 7 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 17, in the Freed Center for the Performing Arts at Ohio Northern University.
The talk, which is part of the T.J. Smull College of Engineering Spotts Lecture Series, is free and open to the public.

Grantier, a 1988 ONU mechanical engineering graduate, is currently the senior technologist for systems engineering and integration at NASA Glenn Research Center.

ADA - Visiting Spencerville used a decisive 26-0 first half run to defeat Ada 51-22 in a Northwest Conference girls basketball makeup game Monday night.
The Lady Bearcats led 4-1 in the first period when they went on the extended spurt. Strong defensive pressure helped hold Ada without a field goal over the first half as the visitors raced to a 30-3 intermission lead.
Ada played much better in the second half, losing only 21-19 after the break.

SPENCERVILLE - Visiting Ada lost a tough 55-50 battle at Spencerville in Northwest Conference boys basketball action Friday night.
The Bulldogs trailed 13-6 after a sluggish start. Ada inched within 22-21 at halftime, and the close margin stayed the same heading to the fourth period at 38-37.
Spencerville outscored the purple and gold 17-13 in the final eight minutes to pull out the five-point victory.
"It was a very hard-fought, physical conference contest between two similar teams," said Bulldog fourth-year head coach Dre White.
Ada High School Class of 1970 is holding a 50-year reunion on Friday, August 21 at 5:30 at The Inn at ONU, according to coordinator Kay Houx. The cost is $30 per person and RSVP requested by June 1.
The evening will include a social hour from 5:30-6:30 p.m. and classic buffet dinner at 6:30 p.m.
In addition to the dinner, an afternoon golfing outing is planned. Anyone interested should contact Jim Niswander at 419-302-7638.
Additionally, an Houx is hosting an informal gathering from 2 p.m. onward at 6572 S. Hardin Rd, Harrod.
The Inn at ONU, located at 401 W. College Ave., has rooms saved specifically for this event.

Mary E. “Betty” “Grandma B” Dodds, 101, died on Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2020 at 6:59 a.m. at Vancrest of Ada.
She was born on Dec. 7, 1918, in McGuffey to the late A.C. and Marie (Shrider) Stuber. Betty was an accountant and bookkeeper for the Ohio Department of Transportation. She was a member of the County Line Church of the Brethren, Harrod and attended the Abundant Life Church of Kenton.
