Let them eat chocolate
Chocolate is the word at the Ada Public Library this month.
On Monday, Feb. 17, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. is a chocolate Olympics for 6th graders through senior high school students.
Then, on Saturday, Feb. 22, is one of the most popular events on the library’s calendar. It’s the Great Chocolate bake off. It’s open to all ages, but participants must sign-up in advance. There’s an entry division for youth and one for adults.
Last year’s winners were the mother-son team of Erin and Timothy Chrissobolis.
Timothy entered a brownie cake with cookie butter frosting. His mom entered an Oreo chocolate cake.
Depending upon how you looked at it, last year’s judges either had a very tough time or, had the time of their life, tasting and scoring the entries. That should be the case again this year.
Among last year’s entries were many chocolate creations. For example, a double velvet cake with chocolate ganache, a heart cake, chocolate muffins, three-layer chocolate cake and more chocolate cookies than you thought existed.
Last year’s judges were Jackie Sperling, Liz Vogt, Nancy Wyche and Sam Bell. Contact the library for more details on this year's event.
