McDonald’s honors Lima employee with prestigious national award

Lima is home to one of 22 Crew Persons of the Year. Ted Boyd, of the N. West St. McDonald’s in Lima,  recently received the Crew Person of the Year Award, an annual performance-based award that recognizes the top performing crew in McDonald’s company-owned or independently-owned and operated restaurants. This award was established to honor hardworking crew employees—those who make founder Ray Kroc’s vision of excellence come to life in restaurants and for customers each day.

University business professor co-authors paper in ‘Journal of Corporate Finance’

Dong Hyun Kim, assistant professor of finance in the Ohio Northern University’s Dicke College of Business Administration, has co-authored an article that has been published in “Journal of Corporate Finance,” considered one of the top journals in the finance field.

The article, titled “The Effect of Interest Rate Volatility and Equity Volatility on Corporate Bond Yield Spreads: A Comparison of Noncallables and Callables,” was co-written with Dr. Duane Stock, professor of finance at the University of Oklahoma.

Donations still accepted for weekend indoor garage sale

It's the first official Ada garage sale of 2014.

Community Health Professionals, 1200 S. Main St., will host a two-day garage sale. Dates and times are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday, Feb. 21, and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 22.

Donations to the sale are being accepted. All proceeds go to Community Health Professionals Hospice Patient Care Fund. Call 419-634-7443 for more details.

Busy week for students at Ada schools - here's some of the events

Despite weather delays, lots of events take place in February at Ada schools. Here's an update from the school website:

Barber scissors for a good cause

Seth Miehls used his barber scissors for something other than cutting hair on Wednesday. With the assistance of members of the Ada Area Chamber of Commerce, Miehls held an official ribbon cutting. Barbers on Main opened earlier this month. Wednesday was a busy day for the chamber. Barbers on Main was one of three ribbon cuttings held. Watch the Icon for the other events.
