St. Paul’s UCC bazaar Nov. 23

St. Paul's United Church of Christ holds its annual bazaar on Saturday, Nov. 23, from 9:30 a.m.-2 p.m.

Items available include:

  • handmade candy, cookies, caramel corn and pies
  • homemade soups,
  • fall and Christmas items for decorating,
  • children's gifts and games,
  • and handmade blankets, needlework and OSU memorabilia.

Picnic food will be available for purchase from 11 a.m. onwards, including sandwiches, sides, chips and dessert.

St. Paul's Church is located at 4443 Township Rd 25, Ada.

Gospel concert on Nov. 10

at Ada Church of Christ Disciples

The Southern Gospel Group, One Voice, will be in concert on Sunday, Nov. 10, at 10:30 a.m. at Ada Church of Christ Disciples, 316 S. Main St.

Bluffton First Mennonite offering workshop, "Living Thoughtfully, Dying Well"

Bluffton First Mennonite Church invites you to participate in a workshop, “Living Thoughtfully, Dying Well”, on Saturday, Nov. 16, from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. in the fellowship hall. Dr. Glen E. Miller, a retired physician of Goshen, IN, wrote a book with the same title and will be the keynote speaker.

Issues to be addressed include estate planning, memorial and funeral planning, advanced directives, nursing home and home health, hospice and palliative care.

St. Paul's UCC installs John Nagel as its pastor

Service took place on Oct. 5

St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 4443  Township Road 25, Ada, installed John Nagel as its full-time pastor on Oct. 5.

He and his wife, Victoria, recently moved to Ada from Marion, and have become active members of the Ada community.

The installation service included prayer, commitment, and a special song "Scars," sung by Pastor Nagel. This song had special meaning to him and the congregation since he had been in a head-on collision in 2016 and was very seriously injured and still has many scars.

St Mark community meal cancelled

Due to on-going building repair

Due to ongoing repair work at St. Mark Lutheran Church the "Last Wednesday Community Meal" for September has been cancelled.  

Meal planners told the Icon: "We hope to be back and running next month on Oct. 30.  We are sorry for any inconvenience."

Ada Church of Christ Disciples open house Sept. 21

Ada Church of Christ Disciples is holding an open house on Saturday, Sept. 21 from noon to 5 p.m., during the Harvest and Herb Festival.

Come and meet Pastor Jacob Reel, make your own ice cream sundae and listen to some gospel music.

Performers include Sonya Petty playing the saxophone, Arnold Coy, Chris Baldwin, and Esther Walker on the pipe organ. To close the open house, the ONU Gospel Swing Choir will perform at 4:30 p.m.
