Quarantine-friendly Vacation Bible School

First United Methodist Church VBS registration underway

First United Methodist Church, Ada, will hold a quarantine-friendly Vacation Bible School this month, announced Caitlin Porter and Anna Yoakam, VBS leaders.

Planned Monday, June 22, Wednesday, June 24, and Friday, June 26, the VBS called “BOLT” has minimal preparation, easy-to-follow instructions, and a video that leads parents and children step-by-step through each of the three days. BOLT is designed for your family at home. 

"Last Wednesday Community Meal" for carryout on May 27

Free meal provided by St. Mark Lutheran and Sugar Grove UMC

The congregations of St. Mark Lutheran and Sugar Grove United Methodist are working together to provide a free community mea – Last Wednesday Community Meal –  from 5 to 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 27.

The meal is for carryout only and pickups are available at St. Mark, 125 Johnson St., Ada. Social distancing and safety protocol will be observed. The meal will be served out of St. Mark Lutheran located at 125 S. Johnson St. Ada.

The menu has not yet been determined.

Ada High School's 2020 Baccalaureate service was videtaped and provided to the Ada Icon to share with viewers.

The service was held virtually on May 20.  

This year’s Baccalaureate address, “What’s a Motto with Mr. Klein? Life Lessons for the Class of 2020”  was given by Josh Klein, Ada High School math teacher.  

The service included the traditional faculty, community and pastoral blessings as well as the graduate slide show. 

This event is sponsored and organized by the Ada Ministerial Association, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and a senior parent committee. 

Ada Food Pantry continues its link to the community in need

Curbside pickup in effect this spring

The Ada Food Pantry continues to serve the hungry in the Ada community.

The Ada Food Pantry support persons in the community and remains available for curbside pickup and will continue in this mode until further notice. Clients should remain in their cars for check-in and their food packages will be brought out.

Christopher Bowers also shared the following information about the pantry:

"All donations to the pantry are welcome. Donations can be brought to the pantry during open hours, but we’d like donors to also please remain in their vehicles until we can get to you.

High school Baccalaureate May 20

Josh Klein, math teacher, is featured speaker

Ada High School seniors, their families and the Ada community are invited to participate in the 2020 Ada High School Baccalaureate service held virtually Wednesday, May 20, at 7 p.m.  

This year’s Baccalaureate address, “What’s a Motto with Mr. Klein? Life Lessons for the Class of 2020” will be given by Josh Klein, Ada High School math teacher.  

The service will include the traditional faculty, community and pastoral blessings as well as the graduate slide show. 

To participate, register in advance at: go.osu.edu/ AdaHS2020. 

After registering, a confirmation email with directions to view the service from your computer, tablet, or phone will be sent. 

Community meal Wednesday

St. Mark and Sugar Grove congregations providing free meals for pick up

The congregations of St. Mark Lutheran and Sugar Grove United Methodist are working together to provide a free community meal from 5 to 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 29.

The meal is for carryout only and pickups are available at St. Mark, 125 Johnson St., Ada.

Delivery to Ada and Liberty Township residents are available to those in need by calling 419-358-4611 on or before Monday, April 27. 

The menu includes chicken and noodles, mashed potatoes, green beans, roll, and a cookie.
