Chance to cheer on Ada Soccer at Bluffton tournament, May 20-21-22

The Ada Soccer Association issued a reminder that there are U12 and U15 tournament games at Bluffton University on May 20 and 21:

"All of our teams in those ages have had good seasons and could potentially do very well at the tournament. Support from the Ada fans would be appreciated. As of right now, these are the games [we] know about:

AHS baseball knocked out of tourney by Spencerville

The Ada High School baseball team stayed close to visiting league rival Spencerville for six innings of a pitcher's duel before falling 6-1 in Div. IV sectional first round action on Tuesday evening, May 17, at Ada War Memorial Park.

Spencerville led 3-1 after the first inning, but then both pitchers bore down and pitched shutout ball over the next five frames. 

The Bearcats broke through to tack on three more insurance runs in the top of the seventh.

Ada softball loses pitching duel at Allen East

The young Ada High School varsity softball team scrapped hard but lost a tight 3-1 pitcher's duel at local rival Allen East in the Northwest Conference season finale on a warm Monday evening, May 16, at Harrod.

The Lady Bulldogs fell to 5-14 overall and finished 2-6 in the NWC with the closedefeat. 

The Mustang girls improved to 10-11 overall and 3-5 in the NWC with the win to finish a game ahead of Ada in the league standings.

"Errors hurt us again, but we were in the ball game at the end," said Bulldog first-year head coach Jeff Bassitt.   

Neither team reached base in the first inning.

Ada Exempted Village Schools issued this reminder: Tickets are required for the sectional baseball game to be played at Ada on Tuesday May 17 and must be purchased online.

Cost is $8 until the day of the game, then the cost increases to $10.

Lady Bulldogs 6th at NWC title meet

The Ada track and field teams competed in the concluding second day of the annual nine-team Northwest Conference championship meet at Crestview Saturday.

The Ada girls finished sixth, with the Bulldog boys coming in ninth. Columbus Grove again won the boys title, but Spencerville overtook Grove to capture the girls team crown.

Junior Courtney Sumner took second in the 400 meters, while sophomore Josie Phillips was second in the 3200-meter run to post the top Ada showings.

Sophomore Julian Grose came in third in the 300 hurdles and fourth in the 110 high hurdles to post the best Bulldog boys finishes.
