Ada swimmers outpace Westside in WOAL meet

Hosting at the Ada Municipal Pool, the Ada-Lost Creek Gators defeated Westside in a West Ohio Aquatic League dual meet on a warm Thursday night, June 23.

Ada captured the combined boys-girls competition by a count of 371-155. 

The Gator boys won 237-130 to pave the way for the overall team victory. The visitors won the girls meet, 225-134.

The Ada boys improved their dual record to 3-1 with the win. The Gator girls dropped to 0-4, while the overall Ada team record is now 1-3.

Gator Luke Harriger (11-12) won four individual races to help lead the Ada boys team to victory.

Reminder: Youth Soccer late fees after June 30

The Ada Soccer Association has issued a reminder that regular registration for the fall season will end on June 30.

Registration from July 1-9 will incur an automatic late fee.

Ada boys win at Findlay WOAL meet

The visiting Ada boys summer swim team defeated Findlay in a West Ohio Aquatic League dual meet Monday night, June 20. 

The Gator boys upended the Frogs, 173-155. The Ada boys improved their dual meet record to 2-1 with the victory.

The hosts won the girls meet, 182-98 and Findlay took the overall combined boys/girls competition by a score of 337-271. 

Gavin Oldfield (13-14 age bracket) won three races to pace the Alligator boys. Lily Baumgartner (15-18) and Carly Hull (6 and under) each touched first in two races. Lincoln Harriger (11-12) and Luke Harriger (6 and under) each captured first in a pair of races.

ONU's Pitcovich named 2nd Team Academic All-America

Ohio Northern senior Tessa Pitcovich (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls) was named to the NCAA Division III Academic All-America Second Team in women's track and field and cross country by the College Sports Information Directors of America for the 2021-22 season.

The Academic All-America Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in athletic competition and in the classroom.

Pitcovich, an accounting major who competes on the track and field and cross country teams at ONU, boasts a perfect 4.0 GPA and was selected by CoSIDA to the Academic All-District 7 First Team in May.

Gator boys best Wapak at home meet

The Ada boys summer swim team defeated visiting Wapakoneta on a hot and hazy Thursday night, June 16, in West Ohio Aquatic League action at the municipal pool.

The Alligator boys dunked Wapak, 209-134.

But the Waves won the girls meet 216-103, and the visitors captured the overall combined boys-girls competition by a 350-312 score. 

Olivia Aggozino (9-10 age bracket) paced the Ada girls with four individual race wins. Lily Baumgartner (15-18) won two races, as did Carly Hull (6 and under).
