Ada Public Library part of World Book Night

Amanda Bennett, Ada Public Library director, announced this week that the Ada Public Library has been chosen to be a World Book Night participant.

World Book Night U.S. is a celebration of books and reading held on April 23, when 25,000 passionate volunteers across America give a total of half a million books within their communities to those who don’t regularly read.

In 2012, World Book Night was celebrated in the U.S., the UK, Ireland, and Germany and saw over 80,000 people gift more than 2.5 million books.

Easter brunch buffet at the Inn at ONU includes a visit from the Easter Bunny

What are your Easter Sunday lunch plans? The Inn at ONU has an Easter special on Sunday for your consideration. It's an Easter brunch buffet.

Held from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., it features:

• Roasted Sirloin of Beef,
• Maple Glazed Ham,
• Herb Baked Tilapia,
• Corn O’ Brien,
• Green Bean Almandine. 

The Easter buffet also includes regular breakfast items and a decadent dessert selection.

Pianist Fred Reid will play from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and the Easter Bunny will make an appearance from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Liberty National CEO Ronald Zimmerly meets with policy makers in Washington

 

Ronald L. Zimmerly, president and CEO of Liberty National Bank, recently returned from Washington, D.C. where he met with legislators and regulators to discuss how recent banking proposals have impacted Ohio.

Zimmerly was one of Ohio bankers who visited the nation’s capital to voice the concerns of the financial services industry on behalf of the Ohio Bankers League and the American Bankers Association.

During the Washington visit, Zimmerly met with Senators Rob Portman and Sherrod Brown. House Financial Services Committee Chairman Congressman Jeb Hensarling (Texas), as well as Representatives Bob Latta and Jim Jordan.

Ada Ministerial Association gathers for Good Friday worship and meal

The Ada area churches will gather for a meal at the Church of Christ-Disciples church on 316 S. Main St. at 6 p.m., Friday, March 29, according to Rev. Dave Coffin, pastor and Ada Ministerial Association president.

At 7 p.m. there will be a worship service of reading of the Passion of Christ, prayer, and a guest singer for music ministry. The community is invited to join us at 6 p.m. for the meal, and/or the Worship Service at 7 p.m.

Ada summer swim team sign-ups April 11 and April 18

Sign-ups for the Ada summer swim team will be held Thursday, April 11, and Thursday, April 18, from 6:30 to 8 pm. at the Ada Visiting Nurses, 4392 State Route 235 in Ada.

Swimmers from ages 5 to 18 are invited. The cost is $50/child, with a $5 credit for each additional family member. This cost includes one ad per family in the championship heat
sheet. A $10 late fee will be assessed for anyone registering after May 27.

Morning practices are held Monday through Friday at the Ada pool beginning as soon as school is out, hopefully May 28. 

The first meet will be June 10 and Swim Championships this year are July 12 and 13 at
Kenton.
