Women in business theme of entrepreneur workshop

Community Economic Development Center at Ohio Northern University to present entrepreneur workshop on women in business

The Community Economic Development Center (CEDC) at Ohio Northern University continues its entrepreneurship workshop series in the Dicke Forum on Tuesday, April 23. The workshop will be preceded by a networking event at 5:30 p.m. The workshop will follow the networking event and conclude at 7 p.m.

Taking Off Pounds Sensibly (TOPS) organizational meeting April 23

On Tuesday April 23, at 1 p.m. at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 125 S. Johnson St., [Behind McDonald's] there will be an organizational meeting for TOPS.

Volunteers needed to keep Farmers and Merchant Picnic alive

The Ada Farmers and Merchants Picnic celebrates its 100th anniversary in August, but unless more volunteers step up to the plate, the fate of the popular event is in question.

Bernie Mackey, president of the organization, shared that information with two communities groups on April 17. He spoke at the Ada Area Chamber of Commerce meeting at 8 a.m. and again at the Ada Community Improvement Corp. (CIC) meeting at noon.

Mackey said that nine key members of the organization’s board agreed five years ago to stay actively involved until the 100th celebration this summer. After this year’s event, those persons plan to step down from the board.

Ada third graders receive Dawn Redwood trees on Arbor Day

Ada's Tree Commission will observe Arbor Day with a ceremony at 12:30 p.m., Friday, April 26, at the Ada elementary school.

Mayor David Retterer will read an Arbor Day Proclamation.This year's Ada's Tree City USA Award will be announced. 

Third graders will receive a a small Dawn Redwood tree to take home to plant.

Pool passes still available at a discount

There's still time to save some money on passes to the Ada Municipal Swimming Pool this season. Individual early-bird season passes are $30 in April. On May 1 the price goes to $40.

Passes are on sale at the Ada Water Department. The tentative open date for this year's pool is Memorial Day, Monday, May 27.
