Culvert replacement closes SR 67 on Monday

State Route 67 between the city of Kenton and State Route 235 will close Monday, April 29, in two locations for culvert replacements. Traffic will be detoured onto State Route 235 and State Route 309 back to State Route 67. Work is being performed by the ODOT Hardin County maintenance garage.

ReStore Community Center will change its name

Community invited to submit new name suggestions

The ReStore Community Center, 210 N. Main St., has served Ada and the surrounding communities for almost 13 years. 

While the center’s board, staff, and volunteers remain as committed as ever to continue serving the area, they will soon be doing so under a new name, and are asking the community’s help in choosing it.

“The ReStore name has served us well,” Robert Kanzig, Executive Director for the ReStore Community Center, said.  “It, for better or worse, has also served Habitat for Humanity well for longer.”

Ready for some disc golf?

Tuesday Night Dubs League starts April 23

It's starting to feel more like disc golf season. Here's an update on the Ada course from Chad Hays:

"Ada Disc Golf Association's Tuesday Night Dubs League will begin on Tuesday, April 23. The other leagues in the area will be starting that week as well.We should have warmer weather and enough daylight by then. So, get out and practice!"

He added that anyone intereseted in playing rounds on Sundays, the new, ONU Disc Golf Club is looking for experienced players to help their club members learn how to play the game, throwing techniques, rules and course etiquette.

Here's Ada's first quarter 2019 building permits

Michael Harnishfeger, Ada village zoning inspector, released to the Icon the building permits for the first quarter of 2019. They follow:

Jan, 7 - Dennis Garbrecht, handicapped ramp, 302 E. North Ave.
Jan. 17 - Christopher Short, duplex, 931 S. Main St., estimated at $20,000
Feb. 22 - Joe Campbell, 515 N. Liberty St., storage shed
March 11 - Deb Curlis, 811 S. Johnson St., fence

Harnishfeger said that in 2018 Ada had 56 building permits totalling $27,714,407. That figure included the Ohio Northern University engineering building, estimated at $25,000,000. Not counting that permit, the 2018 total was $2,714,407.
