Here's Ada schools comprehensive emergency operations procedures

The goal is to make everyone safe

Ada schools has released an "emergency procedures" plan, which was emailed to persons on the Ada School Alerts.

The procedure statement follow:

At both their February and March professional development days, the Ada School staff trained and practiced the evacuation and reunification procedures that have recently been updated as part of the district’s comprehensive emergency operations procedures.  

Ada's final day of school officially Tuesday, May 28

Baring any school cancellations between now and May 28

Ada school superintendent, Meri Skilliter, announced on Ada School Alerts the new arrangement for the final day of school in 2018-19. The change is affected by more than anticipated weather-related school closing this winter.

The announcement follows:

Due to the number of school closings, the last day of school will now be Tuesday, May 28.

Students will now have school Friday, May 24, and Tuesday, May 28. Memorial Day will be observed on Monday, May 27, so there will be no school that day.

Bridge out!

County Road 15 bridge over Hog Creek undergoes rehabilitation

The bridge over Hog Creek on Hardin County Road 15, west of Ada, is closed until mid-June while the bridge is undergoing a rehabilitation, according to Luke Underwood of the county engineer’s office.

The project, estimated at $220,314, includes work handled by the county and U.S. Bridge of Cambridge. A portion of the cost is covered by a grant from the Ohio Public Works Commission. The U.S. Bridge portion of the project is estimated at $170,314 and the county's share is $50,000.

The bridge beams are being removed and taken to Cambridge for rehabilitation and to be galvanized. Once they are returned and replaced the county will reinstall a concrete deck.

  • Miles driven for snow and ice:  724,308
  • Total cost:  $7,392,996

  • Salt used:  60,598 tons
  • Liquid de-icer:  1,148,656 gallons
  • Miles driven for snow and ice:  806,612
  • Total cost:  $7,901,842
