Brittney Archer: "4-H allows me to be who I want to be"

My name is Brittney Archer and I am 17 years old. I took the project Vet Science 2: All systems go! I am a part of the Ada Barnyard Farmers.

I’ve been in the group for 7 years now. With the project Vet Science 2 I did several things.

I had to take the temperature, heart rate, and breathing rate of one of my animals. I had to put 4 different kinds of animal feed into 5 jars and try and see which was a better container for the feed.

Andy Steingass: "The ceramics tradition grounds me"

“It’s meditative,” says Andrew Steingass about working at the potter’s wheel. Andrew (Andy) recalls seeing other art students at Ada High with clay on their jeans and clothes.

“Why would they want that clay all over them?” was Andy’s thought back then. Andy did take art classes in high school, drawing and painting, but didn’t take ceramics class. It was during an art appreciation course at Ohio Northern University that Andy began to feel the pull of the wheel.

Hardin County Hootenannies 4-H Club organnizes

The first meeting of the Hardin County Hootenannies was held at the Ag Credit meeting room.  We want to thank Ag Credit for this opportunity to meet in such a nice place.

The meeting was called to order by president Laura Spradlin.  Advisor Ray Davis asked if everyone saw the newspaper article that told about changes in the goat show and some other rules for the fair.

Awards presented, officers installed at FFA banquet

The annual Ada FFA banquet was held March 27 in the cafeteria at Ada High School.
            
During our meal, Michaela Guyton presented our annual slide show. The slide show was the highlight of the evening, it gave parents, as well as community members to see what the FFA really does through out the year.

Former Ohio District of Kiwanis International governor speaks to Ada Kiwanis

President Heather Cox called weekly meeting of the Ada Kiwanis Club to order at 12:00 noon on Tuesday April 1st at McIntosh Center, ONU. The Invocation was offered by Jon Umphress. Member Jeff Schulman reported that his daughter Joanna gave birth to a baby girl (Marianna Rose) this morning. Congratulations to grandfather Jeff.

Ada elementary students write: "Thank you for donating blood to our blood drive"

Ada elementary school's "Pint Sized Hero" American Red Cross blood donation day in late March brought out several letters of appreciation from Ada elementary students. 

Suzanne Hardesty, Gifted Coordinator / Intervention Special, provided The Icon with several letters written by Ada students. The letter thanked blood donors.
