Lynne Scott: “All of my stories are one long conversation about freedom"

“Chronia Polla” and Lynne E. Scott’s other books are all available on amazon.com and at the Artists Boutique on Main in Ada. A book signing event will be held on Friday, March 28, from 6-7:30 p.m.

By Darlene Bowers

On any given day Lynne Scott is probably tugging her mud boots on and heading for her Good Shepherd Boarding Kennel or donning her galaxy skull leggings to lead a Zumba class as a licensed instructor.

Lynne’s days are filled with Zumba and Zumba Gold classes, meeting clients, scheduling kennel appointments and, oh, Lynne Scott is also an author.

15 minutes with...Craig Hoffman; it took us a while, but we found him in Japan

15 minutes with Craig Hoffman

Craig, when did you graduate from Ada High School?
I graduated from Ada in 1994.

What activities were you in while in high school?
I was fortunate to participate in many different activities. I enjoyed band, choir, cross country, track, Varsity Singers Stage Band, Quiz Bowl, and the like. I was an active student in school.

Faith Holbrook: "I can't imagine my life without 4-H!"

4-H is absolutely wonderful! My name is Faith Holbrook and I am 15 years old.  I couldn’t wait to turn 9 so I could be in 4-H like my older brother and sister.

2014 will be my sixth year and I love what I have learned in the past and am excited about doing so much more in the next few years. 4-H encourages cool ways to learn in a lot of different projects.

Ada HS seniors win the 2014 Interclass Contest trophy

Ada’s oldest competitive event is not played on the athletic field. Rather, in the auditorium.

On March 21, the 108th annual Interclass Contest, founded in 1907, played itself out as it had 107 times prior. Seniors, juniors and sophomore competed in four categories: Essay, Poetry, Short Stories, and Dramatic Readings.

Sending cancer on a run, part 2

What can you buy with a quarter?  A gumball or a handful of M&Ms from a candy machine, air for your bike tires, six minutes of drying time at the local Laundromat, one hour of parking on (some) city streets, or a secondhand mug at a thrift shop.

Or you can do some good with that quarter by donating it to help David Dellifield reach his goal of collecting 50,266 quarters for Send Cancer on the Run 2: All the Way to the Big Apple. Dellifield, an Ada resident, is a stage 4 cancer survivor who has had a longtime goal of running the New York Marathon. Five years after running his first marathon, he is registered to run the TCS New York Marathon on Nov. 2, 2014.

Peek through the studio window on Main Street and you may see Erica Stoner perfecting her favorite calypso jump or leading a class of dance students at the Rhythm in Motion Dance Centre (RIMDC).

Erica has been studying dance with Darcey Schneider since 4th grade beginning at the Dancers Elite Studio in Bluffton. Erica’s first lessons were in tap and ballet and she then added hip hop lessons to her repertoire.
