The Cessna Minutemen 4-H held a meeting on July 29, at Walnut Grove Church. Vice president, Ashley Breidenbach led the 4-H pledge while president, Zac Breidenbach led the Pledge of Allegiance. Roll call was taken by Kenzie Kater by asking the members their favorite color. Minutes were also read by Kenzie Kater. The treasurer's report was read and it was announced that the members need to pay for their books and dues by the August 19th meeting.

After two tiring weeks, Ada High School band camp concluded on Friday. The conclusion of camp was marked with a performance by the band and color guard.

They performed a portion of this season’s competition show in addition to some tunes that can be heard at AHS football games this fall.

Open the attachment at the bottom of this story for photos of that performance.

Tell us about being homeschooled. What are the best and worst parts about it?

So to clarify about homeschooling in general, the reason I choose to be homeschooled (and the reason my parents gave me the opportunity) is that it gives me the ability to expand my worldview and mind. Why? Because I’m not taught what someone wants me to be taught but I can develop my own ideas about the world - it’s less consuming and more thinking.

Charles Van Dyne joined a special group of Ada residents as announced in a surprise at the recent Kiwanis Club meeting.

The club announced that it has planted a tree at the Ada park in Van Dyne’s honor.

Here’s a list of some of the community projects that Van Dyne assisted in during his professional career in Ada.

• Service including the Ada Kiwanis Club, Hardin County Community Foundation, the Hardin County Bar Association for over 50 years and the Benevolent and Fraternal Order of Elks.

• Van Dyne has also served at a sitting Hardin County Judge and has practiced law in Ada for many years.

Earlier this month the Ada Icon posted a story on Kim Light and the Cloverbud 4-H Club.

VIEW THE PHOTOS AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS STORY.

Last week the Icon attended a Cloverbud meeting. It was craft night. Members created robots and coasters.

We’ve taken the opportunity to reprint the story in this photo scrapbook. The story is at the end of the feature. The story is by Darlene Bowers. The photos are by Bailey Bowers.
