This drug disposal event is free and open to the public. Please bring items in sealed bags.

Shredding is free and open to anyone living in the community.

  • Accepted medications are over-the-counter pills, prescription medicine, including opioids.
  • NOT ACCEPTED: needles and liquids

Items to shred include personal documents, check stubs, credit card offers, receipts, paper items containing personal info

Sept. 6 Community Meal at Beatitudes

Beatitudes Community Center will serve a special community meal:

  • Ham & Beans with Cornbread
  • Dine-in or carry-out
  • Tuesday, September 6
  • 4:00-5:30 p.m.

"We are a place where anyone can come, hang out, have a cup of coffee or a cold drink, and enjoy the fellowship of others.  Much of our programing is geared toward providing opportunities for everyone to interact socially with others.

St. Mark Community Meal on August 31

St. Mark Lutheran will serve its monthly free Community Meal on Wednesday, August 31, from 5:00-6:30 p.m.--or until they run out--at the church located at the corner of Johnson and Lincoln.

The meal is free and opened to the public. You may dine in, carry out, or drive up for curbside service.

This month’s dinner includes Sloppy Joe Sandwich, Baked Beans, Carrots and Celery, Chips, Cookie, and Fruit.

Organizers note, "Don’t be late. Last month we did not run out, but we did serve 114 meals. Hope to see you there."

Watch movie Home Team under the stars

You are invited to free outdoor movies in McGuffey. This Saturday night, August 27, the movie Home Team will be featured.

  • 9:15 p.m.
  • 404 Courtright St., McGuffey

"Come early for the best spots in the grass. Bring your blankets or chairs. The kids will love it, as well as the adults. It's such a nice change of pace, watching the movies under the stars instead of on TV. And it's all free.

"Lots of soft drinks and popcorn. Tell your friends. You'll have a blast. We will be having several more throut September, so check back often. See you at the movies."

ONU grad drawing the crowd at Allen County Fair

The Allen County Fair is underway with something for everyone, notes Ohio Northern Art & Design, including illustrations by ONU grad Pat O’Connell (BFA/graphic design ‘05).

Thursday, August 25 is Senior Citizen's Day (Seniors over 60 years admitted free 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.)

Friday, August 26 is Veteran's Day (Veterans admitted free between 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.)

Bluffton Fall Festival is September 24

The 17th annual Bluffton Fall Festival, with many family-oriented activities, will take place throughout the community on Saturday, Sept. 24, with most activities  occurring between 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.
