Leaf Rubbings, Scarecrows, Scavenger Hunts at Friendship Gardens

HARDIN COUNTY–The Hardin County OSU Extension Master Gardener Volunteers are hosting a children’s program at the Friendship Gardens called “Leaf Rubbings, Scarecrows & Scavenger Hunts” on Saturday morning, September 24. This event is from 10:00 a.m. until noon and will provide several activities for kids of all ages. Each child will be able to leave with a leaf rubbing and scarecrow that they made themselves with the help of the Master Gardener Volunteers. There are also garden scavenger hunts planned for the kids.

The Ada High School Class of ’77 will hold a 45th class reunion on Saturday, October 15, 2022 at the War Memorial Park Old Fraternity House, corner of S. Simon and N. Park. 

The Social Hour will be from 4:00-5:00 p.m. Bring your own drinks. Ice and water will be provided. Dinner will be at 5:00 p.m.

A Saturday like no other: Harvest & Herb Festival

CORRECTION: The parade route is from Ada High School down Montford St.

On Saturday, September 17, downtown Ada will forget about business as usual and celebrate the 36th annual Harvest & Herb Festival. This year, 140 different vendors with 160 booths will line Main Street from Quest Federal Credit Union to Ohio Northern University. 

If you are accustomed to parking on Main Street in the wee hours of the morning, note that it will close at 6:00 a.m. and cars may be towed if left in the festival area.

Coordinated by the Ada Area Chamber of Commerce, the event begins at 9 a.m. and includes:

Hardin Co. Astronomy Club meets on Sept. 14

Hardin County Astronomy Club has announced the following meeting, which is open to the public:

  • 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 14
  • Hardin County Courthouse Veterans Meeting Room

The program will be Astronomy Software, and the Constellation for this month is Perseus.  Sketches will be reviewed for Hercules and Lyra.

Hardin County Fair Pull is September 9

From the Hardin County Pullers, the Hardin County Fair Pull l is at 7:00 p.m. on September 9 in front of the grandstand.

Grandstand and pit admission will be available.

Six classes will compete:

8000 Workstock Diesel 4x4

COTPA Light Pro Tractors

Street Altered Semis

6500 Limited Street Gas 4x4

8500 Altered Farm Tractors

This is a tentative order for the event. On The Mark Sled Rental will be providing the pulling sleds.

The Quarry Farm invitation to 8th annual jam session

PANDORA—Music of all kinds will fill the air on Saturday, September 10 when The Quarry Farm Nature Preserve & Conservation Farm, Pandora, hosts the organization's annual Jam from 6:00-9:00 p.m. 

The invitation: "Whether you play an instrument like a virtuoso or just like to pretend, sing along or listen, people of all ages are invited to this family-friendly event. Bring a lawn chair and spend a sweet late summer evening with music under the outdoor pavilion's big red roof, alongside the calls from the nature preserve."
