May 2 vaccination clinic for students entering 7th grade in the fall

On May 2, 2023, the Kenton-Hardin Health Department will set up a mobile clinic during the school day for children to receive the vaccines required for 7th grade, including both the Tdap and meningitis vaccines. For more information regarding these vaccines, please contact the Kenton-Hardin Health Department at 419-673-6230.

If you would like to get your child vaccinated outside of the school date, the Kenton-Hardin Health Department holds clinics every Thursday from 8:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m., by appointment at the office in Kenton. There are also monthly mobile clinics in Ada, Forest and Dunkirk on specific days. 

Local blood drives in March, April and May

ONU hosts March 23 event from 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.

As the seasons change, the American Red Cross is reminding the public that the need for blood doesn’t take a break.

Donors of all blood types, especially type O donors and platelet donors, are encouraged to make and keep appointments to donate. Book a time to give by visiting www.RedCrossBlood.org, downloading the Red Cross Blood Donor App, or calling 1-800-RED CROSS.

VFW Auxillary Easter Egg Hunt on April 1

The Ada VFW Auxiliary Post 9381 will host its annual Easter Egg Hunt on April 1, rain or shine. There will be an outside hunt if its nice and an indoor hunt if it rains or is cold. Ada VFW is located at 2147 OH 235.

Doors open at 11:00 a.m. with immediate sign-ups. Group hunts will be divided by age groups. Group hunt times:

Kappa Alpha Theta Easter Egg Hunt on April 2

The sisters of Kappa Alpha Theta at ONU will host their annual Community Easter Egg Hunt on Sunday, April 2 starting at 11:00 a.m. at Ada's War Memorial Park.

Please arrive by 10:45 a.m. when rules will be explained and children will be grouped by age.

Registration is open for July 15 Ride to Remember

Loops include routes through and rest stops in Ada and Rawson

The ninth Annual Ride to Remember, a Bluffton Lions fundraising event for cyclists of all ages and abilities, is now taking registrations for the Saturday, July 15 event. (Register HERE.)

The in-person ride will take cyclists through the villages of Bluffton, Ada, Rawson and the surrounding countryside. Routes include four marked loops. Distances range from 11-124 miles.

The first 275 registered riders to check in will receive a cinch sack filled with items from local businesses and a lunch coupon. In 2022, the cinch sack value was close to $200. A commemorative T-shirt will be offered for purchase during registration.

LOOPS

The 11-mile Fun Loop is great for young families and new cyclists; portions use Bluffton’s bicycle paths. 

The Rawson Loop, with a rest stop in Rawson, is 24 miles.

The 37-mile Ada Loop passes through the villages of Lafayette and Ada, with a rest stop on the Ohio Northern campus.

The full Main Loop is 63 miles with cut-offs provided at 23, 46 and 56 miles. Main Loop rest stops are at 16, 31 and 46 miles.

April 1 Brunch with the Easter Bunny

On Saturday, April 1, the McGuffey Community Center on Courtright St. will host a Brunch with the Easter Bunny.

From 9:30-10:30 a.m. brunch will be served including french toast sticks, sausage, scrambled eggs, milk, orange juice or water. There is no charge to attend the event.
