Beatitudes to host Doll Adoption Day on May 12-13

Beatitudes community center has announced a huge Doll Adoption Day, with so many dolls that it will actually span Friday, May 12 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. and Saturday, May 13 from 11:00 a.m.-2:00.

The non-profit has received a donation of over 100 dolls from an estate.  The owner collected dolls and made clothes for all of them. She was 97 years old at her passing and still lived at home.

There will be a special balloon arch for taking photos of children with their new doll.  Adoption certificates will be made for each child to go with the doll they choose.

Beatitudes community center is located at 210 N. Main, Ada, Ohio.

Ada hosts drop-off site on Medication Disposal Day

SATURDAY, APRIL 22 • 9 AM-NOON

Bring your expired and unused prescriptions and over-the-counter medications to one of the locations listed below and law enforcement officers will dispose of these medications in a safe, legal and environmentally conscious manner.

+ Unused or expired prescription and over-the-counter medication, medicated lotions and sunscreens.

+ ONLY medications from personal homes will be accepted. No medications from physician, dentist or veterinary offices will be accepted.

+ NO used syringes will be accepted.

Hardin Co. United Way to host September Community Health Run

JUNE 29 UPDATE: THE EVENT BELOW HAS BEEN CANCELED.

The United Way of Hardin County has announced details about the annual  United Way Community Health Run.

The 2023 event will feature several distances, including a half marathon, 10k, and 5k. This year, you will have the option to run, walk, or ruck for each distance.

The event will be on Sunday, September 24, 2023 on the Ohio Northern University campus in Ada.

Poetry reading and book signing at Alger Public Library

At 6:00 p.m. on April 27, the Alger Public Library will host a meet and greet with poet Jessica Weyer Bentley. The event includes a book signing, as well as coffee and snacks to enjoy as Bentley reads some of her poetry. The library is located at 100 Wagner St, Alger.

Annual Lions mulch sales have topped $100,000 in scholarship support

The Ada Lions Club will begin its Annual Mulch Sale on Saturday, April 29. Please call 419-634-5626 to place a delivery order. You do not need to call for a pickup order.

Prices for 2023 are $40 per scoop for Brown or Black Velvet Mulch, $20 delivery to an Ada Address, and $30 delivery to surrounding areas.

Proceeds go to the Ada High School scholarship program. The Lions note, "We would like to thank everyone in advance for supporting this very worthy cause." In 2022 the Lions scholarship award marked over $100,000 given since 2000.

LWV holds information session on mental health services for children

The League of Women Voters of the Lima Area will hold an informational meeting on mental health services for children at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, April 17 at the Mental Health & Recovery Services Board of Allen, Auglaize, and Hardin County, 529 S Elizabeth St Ste 200, Lima.  The guest speaker will be Tammy Colone, Director of the Mental Health & Recovery Services for Children. This meeting is open to the public.
