MLK event planned in Kenton for Monday

The pastor of Payne Chapel AME Church, its members, and community activists, and clergy from the Kenton area are putting the final touches on this year’s Martin Luther King Jr. celebration in Kenton.

The day will begin with a community program at 10:30 a.m. on Monday at St. John’s Church, 211 E. Carrol St. in Kenton.

Representatives from political, religious, and ethnic organizations will discuss Dr. King’s motivation to empower the people to make their voices heard.

The program will conclude with a unity march that will begin and end at St. John’s Church. The march will be followed by a free meal which will allow participants to reflect on the day.

Hammered dulcimer national champion performs Jan. 27

Bluffton Town Hall Concert Series

Ted Yoder, virtuoso, hammered dulcimer musician, will perform on the next Bluffton Town Hall Concert Series.

His performance is 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 27, in the third floor of the Bluffton town hall, 154 N. Main St.

Yoder has revolutionized the hammered dulcimer through his pop symphonic approach on the instrument as a solo performer.

Zumba classes to be held in Kenton

Ohio State University Extension, Hardin County, in partnership with Hardin County Wellness, announces the Zumba schedule for January and February.

 

Classes, for those 12 and older, will be held at Simon Kenton School  Gymnasium, 705 N. Ida St, from 4:50-5:45 p.m. on the following dates: Jan. 8, 10, 17, 22, 24, 29, 31; Feb. 5, 7, 12, 14, 21, 26, 28. Cost is $15.

 

Bereavement support group to form

First meeting Thursday, Jan. 11 at ReStore

ReStore Community Center, 210 N. Main, will begin hosting a monthly bereavement support group beginning at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 11.

The program will begin with a free dinner and is for anyone experiencing the loss of a relative or close friend.

Rev. Trent Boedicker of Grace Gospel Church will lead the first session. The group will meet at 6 p.m. on the second Thursday of the month at ReStore.
