Public events at VFW

Several Ada VFW events are open to the public in November .

They include:

Breakfast every Sunday, 8:30 am until 1 pm.
Friday, Nov. 10, 5-7 pm, pork dinner, $8.
Saturday, Nov. 11, Karaoke, 8-midnight.
Saturday, Nov. 25, OSU/Michigan game, Post will open at 11:30 am, potluck carry-in will begin at noon. Karaoke, 8 pm until midnight that night.

Reservoir Dogs Disc Golf Club of McComb

The Reservoir Dogs Disc Golf Club of McComb gets some play time in on a chilly Saturday morning at the ONU course.

"Quiet " reads the sign being held at right because it takes great concentration to throw the disc where the competitor wants it to go.

Disc golf can be serious...or not.

State announces road closures near Alger, Roundhead

Road closures north of Alger and south of Roundhead continue while SR 235 in Alger will be closed for one day next week. 

State Route 309 between township Road 25 and county Road 35, north of Alger, closed Oct. 31 for two weeks for the replacement of three culverts. Traffic is detoured onto state Route 235, state Route 81 and I-75 back to state Route 309. Work is being performed by the ODOT Hardin County maintenance garage.

State Route 117 just south of Roundhead closed Oct. 25 for approximately three weeks for a culvert replacement. Traffic will be detoured onto state Route 235 and U.S. 33 back to state Route 117. Work is being performed by VTF, Celina.

Fish fry planned in McGuffey

An all-you-can-eat fish fry will be held at the McGuffey Conservation Club, 6773 TR 55, from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 12. Dine in or carry out are available for $8 which includes fish, baked beans, coleslaw, and roll. All are welcome.

Candy Cane Tour features 2 Ada locations

The Candy Cane Tour of Homes sponsored by Keep Hardin County Beautiful features two Ada locations and five places in Kenton this year. Decorated in their finest holiday adornment will be:

Mike and Beth Milks' home, 424 S. Johnson St.
The Inn at Ohio Northern University.

Presale tickets for the 1-6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3, event are available at The Inn (866-713-4513) and New Leaf in Kenton (419-674-2747) for $10. Tickets the day of the tour are $15.

November blood donation sites

The American Red Cross reports that patients are counting on blood donations all season long – even around the holidays when donations decline due to busy schedules and travel plans. 

A blood donation is a way to share your good health and may give patients a chance to experience more holiday seasons with loved ones.

November blood donating opportunities in Hardin County are:

Ada--Community Health Professionals, 1200 S. Main, 11:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m., Nov. 20.

Kenton--First Baptist Church, 11543 CR 175, noon-6 p.m., Nov. 27.

Dola--Hardin Northern High School, 11589 SR 81, 8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m., Nov. 28
