Historical Society to meet Monday

The Historical Society will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Monday at the Ada Public Library.  All are welcome.

The Society is in the organizational stage and all of those interested are encouraged to attend to help determine future projects, elect additional officers, discuss where and how historical materials are located and stored, etc.
There has been good interest in forming the Society with 13 people in attendance at the first three meetings. 

There is a good cross section of the community represented: older and young, men and women, from ONU and the community, long-time residents and newcomers

Apollo 28th annual Christmas craft show Dec. 2

Apollo Career Center, 3325 Shawnee Road, Lima will hold its 28th annual Christmas at Apollo Craft Show Saturday, Dec. 2, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Admission is $3, children 12 and under are free. 

The proceeds from the craft show are divided among the Apollo student organizations to fund community service projects and assist students competing at state and national competitions.

One of the largest shows in the region, Apollo Career Center hosts over 130 crafters selling home-made and hand-crafted wares. Sandwiches, snacks, and drinks are available for purchase. All booth space has been sold. For additional information, call 419-998-2917.

Alger Memorial Festival Committee country-style breakfast

The Alger Memorial Festival Committee is sponsoring a Country-Style breakfast on Saturday, December 2nd, from 7:00 to 11:00 a.m. 

Serving biscuits, sausage gravy, hash-browns, scrambled eggs, fried apples, sausage patties and beverage. Suggested donation is $7.00. All-you-can-eat (on premises only). Carry out is available,

Hanson-Neely remembrance service Dec. 9

Hanson-Neely Funeral Homes will hold its  14th  annual remembrance service at 3 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 9, at its Ada chapel, 311 E. Lima Ave., according to Bruce Neely.

Persons attending may arrive anytime between 2 and 3 p.m. Upon arrival, a personalized ornament will be given to the family to place on a Christmas tree. Call ahead (419-634-2936) so the ornament can be personalized in memory of someone from the family attending.

A short memorial service will take place at 3 p.m.  A time of sharing and light refreshments will follow.

Getting ready for Kiwanis spaghetti dinner

The annual Kiwanis Club spaghetti dinner will be held from 4:30 until 7 p.m. on Thursday in the high school cafeteria. 

Tickets are $8 at the door for dine in or carry out, those 10 and under free. Last year 230 meals were served.

Proceeds go to Kiwanis activities in the community, mostly for youth programs. More than 230 people enjoyed the spaghetti dinner last year.

A Spectacular walk-on

Gina Wiley, owner of a dance studio in Delphos, is the choreographer again this year for the Holiday Spectacular.

She has been involved in the production for the past 22 years, beginning as tap dance instructor.

She holds Tango under the towering Christmas tree in the Freed Center lobby prior to rehearsal on Tuesday night.
