Hardin County "meet the candidates" night Oct. 16

Organized by Hardin County Talks

A Hardin County voter forum is planned from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 16, in the Hardin County Sheriff’s Department 1025 S. Main St., Kenton.

Sponsors of the forum include Kenton Times, Ada Icon, Ada Herald, Hardin County Republican Party, Hardin County Democratic Party and Allen and Hardin for Election Action and Democracy (AHEAD).

The forum, called “Evening With Your Candidates,” is organized by Hardin County Talks.

Family-friendly pumpkin train ride in nearby Findlay

'Tis the season for pumpkins and pumpkin train rides.  

Now through October 21, Northwest Ohio Railroad Preservation on the north side of Findlay is running a family-friendly "pumpkin train' ride.  Riders also have an opportunity to buy a pumpkin for seasonal decorating or maybe even baking a pie.  Cotton candy and lemon shake-ups are also available to add to the festivities.

Richard Moed was among those riding the pumpkin train and taking home a pumpkin this weekend.

Groundbreaking Oct. 22 for We Care Center, Kenton

Mental Health & Recovery Services Board project

The Mental Health & Recovery Services Board will break ground at its We Care Center, 775 East Eliza St., Kenton, for a new youth behavioral services wing at 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 22, according to Michael Schoenhofer, executive director.
 
"This addition will expand our capacity to serve youth and families in Hardin County," he said. "We are excited at the growth in awareness for the services in Hardin County and this wing will add more offices and meeting room to our capacity."
 
The ground breaking is open to the public.
 

LUNAFEST in October

Women LEAD (Women Leading Women Forward) and Kenton/Hardin County Soroptimist International are partnering to provide Hardin County with an opportunity to celebrate all women . The proceeds of this event will benefit the newly founded Safe Haven in Hardin County. This organization focuses on helping those who have endured and survived domestic abuse through giving them a new start at life. Women LEAD and Kenton/Hardin County Soroptimist International are humbled by the work of this organization and are excited to help contribute to their mission.

Ada Music Boosters plan first-ever craft show

Vendor registration deadline is Monday; the show is Oct. 20

The Ada Music Boosters will hold a craft show Saturday, Oct. 20, in the Ada High School gym.

The show is open to the community from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Admission is $3.  For booth information, contact Lori Poling at [email protected]. Potential crafters may also open the printer-friendly booth application form at the bottom of the story.

Booth reservations are due by Monday, Oct. 1. A single booth is $35.

Next United Way "All Out" Monday at Plaza Inn

Joan Wagner and the Plaza Inn, Mt. Victory, will be hosting the second All Out for the United Way of Hardin County on Monday, Sept. 24. The restaurant will donate a portion of their receipts for the day for this year?s campaign to benefit the 21 non profit agencies in Hardin County. United Way appreciates all of the support throughout the county.
