See ‘Conjunction of Venus and Jupiter’ Jan. 20 at Oakwoods

Join Hancock Park District staff on Sunday, Jan. 20, at 1:30 p.m. at Oakwoods Nature Preserve’s Discovery Center for “Conjunction of Venus and Jupiter.” This means the two planets will have the same celestial longitude or be really close to each other in the night sky. The Moon will also be in the waning gibbous phase.

Annual and new events this spring and winter in Ada

Several annual Ada events had dates announced at the Jan. 16 Ada Area Chamber of Commerce meeting.

Those include:
• Ada Rotary bowling battle of businesses, Norada Lanes, Sunday, Feb. 5
• Vendor show, Saturday, Feb. 9, The Depot, 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.
• Ada chamber annual meeting, at Community Health Professionals, Wednesday, Feb. 20, noon
• Ada chamber after-hours mix and mingle, The Inn at ONU, Wednesday, March 20, 4:30-6 p.m.
• Community Health Professionals, Beacon of Hope, CHP, Thursday, April 4, 6 p.m.
• Ada Lions mulch sale, coming in April

Hardin County Dems meets Jan. 16

The monthly meeting of the Hardin County Democratic Party takes place at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, in the Mary Lou Johnson Library Meeting Room in Kenton.  Refreshments will be available during the meeting.

Items on the agenda include the recommendation to the Secretary of State for appointment to the Hardin County Board of Elections for the 2019-2023 term and recommendations from the Voter Engagement and Party Building Committee.

Ada Kiwanis set pancake-sausage day March 30

Ada Kiwanis Club will hold its 67th annual pancake and sausage day Saturday, March 30, in the Ada High School cafeteria. Watch the Icon for more details coming soon.

Tillage Club programs underway in Mt. Victory

The 2019 Conservation Tillage Club breakfast program is underway at the Plaza Inn Restaurant in Mt. Victory, according to Mark Badertscher of the Hardin County Extension Office.

Each session begins at 7:30 a.m. with a complimentary buffet breakfast followed by the program at 8 a.m.

The Jan. 22 program features Bailey Elchinger, an INTL FC Stone, Risk Management Consultant with Grains.  Her presentation will focus on the 2019 grain marketing outlook.

On Feb. 5 Dr. Pierce Paul, OSU Extension State Specialist in Corn and Small Grain Diseases will speak to the Conservation Tillage Club about Corn Diseases.

Ada HS Alumni Association goes bowling on Feb. 10

Will raise funds for "Boots for Bulldogs"

The Ada High School Alumni Association will be holding its annual Bowling Outing at Norada Lanes in February, according to Taylor Osbun.

"We will be raising money for "Boots for Bulldogs" this year," said Taylor.

The event is Sunday, Feb. 10. Registration begins at 1:30 p.m. and the cost is $40 per team of two.
