As parents and educators, we often think about ways to keep youth safe.
We make sure children are wearing a seatbelt, don’t go anywhere by themselves, don’t have access to any weapons, and understand the dangers of drugs and alcohol.

A workshop to help area professionals sharpen their social media skills will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on March 20 in McIntosh Center at Ohio Northern University. The event is intended to help individuals learn how to optimize their organization’s social media presence.
Tickets are on sale for an annual awards banquet on Thursday, March 19, from 6 p.m., at McIntosh Ballroom, at ONU, for the Soroptimist International clubs of Hardin and Hancock counties.
The evening is in celebration of local women and girls, and includes dinner, speaker, and live entertainment from Noteworthy Community Choir Sweet Notes. The speaker is Coach Kate Witte will discuss how women can be empowered through playing sports.
FROM BLUFFTON ICON - Tickets are now on sale for a Bluffton Family Recreation repeat performance of Dueling for Dumbbells, which takes place Friday, April 3, at The Centre, 601 N. Main St., Bluffton.
The evening is a casual night of live entertainment involving dueling pianos, featuring an open bar, with proceeds going to the BFR, starting at 6 p.m., according to Daniel Tinch, BFR executive director.
Dinner starts at 6:30 p.m. Dueling pianos starts at 7 p.m.
New this year is a complete menu, which includes apple bourbon chicken, yankee pot roast, sweet potato casserole, stuffed shells and home-style green beans.
Ada Varsity Singers final home performance in the school auditorium

The award-winning Ada High School Varsity Singers provide their final home performance of the school year at 7 p.m., Monday, March 9, in the Ada school auditorium, according to Scott Henning, director.
An Ada location is one of four in Hardin County offering preschool screening for the 2020-21 school year.
Liberty Village Preschool, 725 W. North Ave., will offer screening on Wednesday, March 4. The screening is through the Midwest Regional Educational Service Center.
Screening is for children up and including 5 years old. Call Midwest Regional ESC to schedule an appointment at 937-599-5195, extension 3020 or email Penny Carrig at [email protected].
These screenings help fill classrooms at Little River (USV), Victory Garden (Ridgemont), Northern Lights (Hardin Northern) and Liberty Village (Ada).
