Community Economic Development Center at Ohio Northern University to present entrepreneur workshop on women in business

The Community Economic Development Center (CEDC) at Ohio Northern University continues its entrepreneurship workshop series in the Dicke Forum on Tuesday, April 23. The workshop will be preceded by a networking event at 5:30 p.m. The workshop will follow the networking event and conclude at 7 p.m.

The Village of Ada continues to apply for grant and loan funding for the reconstruction of the Waste Water Treatment Plant. Many of these grant applications require the Village to host public hearings.

These hearings allow citizens additional opportunities to learn more about the grant programs, the proposed projects, and ask questions. The Village has previously hosted public meetings on the WWTP project in September and November of 2012 and March of 2013.

The next public hearing will be held on Tuesday, April 23, at 7 p.m. The hearing will take place in the Ada Historic Depot, located on Central Avenue.

President Myrna McCurdy called weekly meeting of the Ada Kiwanis Club to order at noon on Tuesday April 16th at McIntosh Center, ONU,

The birthday of member Dustin Brooks (April 18th) was noted.

The membership anniversary of Jolene Bailey (April 19, 2011) was also noted.

In business:
-Treasurer Bryan Marshall updated members on club finances.

-Secretary Brian Myers reported on the Kiwanis International Foundation’s Annual Gift Campaign.

-On April 3rd, the satellite club hosted the Ada Kiwanis Club’s induction of new members David MacDonald, Matt Crawford and Amanda Bennett

On Tuesday April 23, at 1 p.m. at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 125 S. Johnson St., [Behind McDonald's] there will be an organizational meeting for TOPS.

The Ada Icon recently sat down with Cole Tabor, Ada High School junior. Here’s a segment of our conversation.

What classes are you taking this semester?
Cole: Varsity Singers, Algebra III, American Government, English II College Prep, and Art I A and B.

Any activities outside of academics?
Cole: I run track and play football. I’ll be a wide receiver in football next season. In track I run the 200, 400 and am on the 4 by 200 relay. My personal best in the 200 is 27.9 seconds and in the 400 1:10. Our relay was second at the Spencerville Relays.
