The 1996 film "Emma," based on Jane Austen's classic novel, starring Gwenyth Paltrow, will be showed at the Ada Public Library, at 2 p.m., Wednesday, April 17.

This movie version follows the story of a young girl In rural 1800s England. Emma thinks she's good at matchmaking, but you can be the judge. True to Austen, much mayhem and humor ensue.

When her governess, Miss Taylor (Greta Scacchi), gets married and goes to live with her new husband, Mr. Weston (James Cosmo), Emma proudly takes credit for having brought the couple together.

Carissa Click, Ada High School junior, works on a scratch board art project in Art II. The cat she is creating on scratch board is her cat "Lacey." When this photo was taken she was about five days into the art project.

Madison Stoner, Ada High School sophomore and Art II student, works on a hard-edged painting of a ballerina. The acrylic work is 24 by 36 inches and when The Icon took this photo last week Madison had worked on the piece for about two to three weeks.

The secret’s out. The Buy Ada First Committee, planning the community’s third cash mob, this week announced the location of the event.

The cash mob takes place at one of Ada’s prominent retail businesses, New Leaf Garden Center, 0395 Ohio 235 - Ada, from 2 to 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 23.

“Laurie Laird welcomed our invitation to host this event,” said Heather Cox, member of the committee. “We hope to continue more cash mobs in Ada this year.”

The Ada Icon caught up with Taylor Willeke, Ada High School senior, recently. Here’s a portion of that conversation.

What courses are you taking this semester?
Taylor: Physics, Calculus, Sociology, Personal Finance, Spanish IV and Advanced Prep English 12.

When was the first time you held a basketball?
Taylor:
Probably when I was 2 years old. My dad was the eighth grade basketball coach and he’d take me to practice with him.
