Bulldog boys sting Hornets

Playing at home, the Ada boys soccer team defeated local rival Cory-Rawson 4-1 in North Central Ohio Soccer Association action on a cool, rainy Wednesday, September 22, at War Memorial Stadium.

The Bulldogs improved to 3-4-3 overall and 1-2 in NCOSA action with the decisive win. The Hornets fell to 6-3-1 and 0-3 in NCOSA play after the defeat.

Junior Carter Conley and freshman Logan Jolliff each netted two goals to pace Ada. 

Abdellah Al-Olimat passed out a pair of assists.

Sophomore keeper Colton Long was credited with two saves in goal.

Short-handed Ada falls to Pirate spikers

Plagued by illness, host team Ada was swept by local rival Bluffton in a Northwest Conference volleyball match Tuesday evening.

The Lady Bulldogs dropped to 1-10 overall and 0-3 in the NWC with the 25-16, 25-12, 25-12 defeat.

The Lady Pirates improved to 9-2 and 2-0 in league play with their seventh consecutive win. 

"I am really proud of how hard we played," said Ada head coach Kyleigh Woodruff. "I was glad to see the underclassmen get a chance to play, and they played hard. Bluffton is a really good team."

Pirate senior setter Skyler Scoles recorded her 2,000th career assist in game two and got a nice ovation from the crowd during abrief stoppage of play.

William “Bill” W. Faine remembered as teacher, coach

William “Bill” W. Faine of Bluffton, Ohio passed away on Saturday, September 18, 2021. He went to live in paradise with his savior, Jesus. He was 59 years old. 

Bill married Jodi Woodruff on August 18, 1984 who survives, along with their children; Lauren (Ralph) Cuellar, W. Wells II (Laura), Mitchell, and Sidney. He was “Pop-Pop” to five grandchildren; Katie, Annabelle and Will W. Faine III, Rafael “RJ” Cuellar Jr., and Roman Cuellar. 

Bill was born the youngest of four boys on June 5, 1962 in Bluffton, Ohio. They lived in Mt. Cory, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his mother, D. Deane Faine; a brother, Michael and his father-in-law, Robert Woodruff.

Sept. 22 5k Glow Run/Walk POSTPONED

Ohio Northern University's 5K Glow Run/Walk, originally scheduled to be held on campus Wednesday, Sept. 22 for Suicide Prevention & Awareness Week, will be postponed due to inclement weather that is being predicted. 

The event will be rescheduled.
