By Cort Reynolds

A truncated Ada cross country team ran at the Waynesfield-Goshen Night Invite race on a warm Saturday evening, September 18.

The two participating Ada girls harriers came home back-to-back just three seconds apart.

Bulldog sophomore Jillian Hazelton crossed the tape in 18th place with a time of 27:18.

Ada sophomore Elsie Allen finished right behind her in 19th with a time of 27:21.

"The girls did amazing and this is the hardest I have seen them push themselves," said Ada head coach Josh Klein. "The girls were within 40 seconds of their personal-best records, and this was a hilly course.

Festival ticks all the boxes

The 2021 Harvest and Herb festival had it all: great weather, a record number of vendors, and the support of community organizations including Ada's first responders, who displayed this American flag over Main Street. More details Monday.

Review of The President's Daughter

by Robert McCool

What do you get when you mix an Ex-President and the Grand Master of Pop fiction?

You get a pretty good read.

Regardless of what you think of Bill Clinton as a President, and even though as a man he was a womanizing scoundrel, he knows the inner workings of Washington, DC.

Regardless of what you think of James Patterson as an author who doesn't write many of his books, he knows how to write well when he chooses to do so.

Put them together and you get one heck of a political thriller, packed with non-stop action from the very start to the very end.

Ada visits Delphos Jefferson in a Northwest Conference week six battle Saturday night, September 25.

The Wildcats (2-3, 0-2 NWC) led 28-17 in the fourth period at Crestview Friday, but lost a 31-28 heartbreaker to a late Knight two-touchdown rally.

DJ beat crosstown foe St. John's and Perry while losing to Columbus Grove and Ayersville in their first four games.

Ada beat Delphos Jeff in their last two meetings in 2018 (38-6) and 2019 (74-70). The rivals did not meet in 2020's shortened season.

DJ's last win over Ada was in 2017 by a 35-33 count. The Bulldogs edged the Wildcats on the road 27-22 in 2013 in their lone playoff meeting.

Explosive Pirates run past Bulldogs in rivalry battle

By Cort Reynolds

Host Ada could not contain the big-play rushing attack of traditional local rival Bluffton, and lost a 34-14 Northwest Conference clash on a warm Friday night, September 17,  at War Memorial Stadium.

The Pirates tallied touchdowns on two 64-yard runs and a 39-yarder, and added a 74-yard non-scoring rush as well.

The Bulldogs fell to 1-4 and 0-2 in the NWC with the defeat.

Bluffton improved to 4-1 and 1-1 in league play with the win.

"Give Bluffton credit, they played hard and are a good team," said first-year Ada head coach Toby Smith. "We made too many mistakes in the first half.
