Women's basketball ranked No. 17 in D3hoops.com poll; No. 22 in USA Today sports coaches poll

The Ohio Northern women's basketball team is ranked No. 17 in the third weekly D3hoops.com Women's Top 25 and No. 20 in the fourth USA Today Sports Division III Top 25 Coaches Poll.

ONU received 164 points in the D3hoops.com poll and 30 in the USA Today Sports poll.

In the D3hoops.com poll, the Polar Bears were ranked No. 24 in the first week and No. 20 last week.

DePauw (Ind.) got 24 out of 25 first place votes for the top spot, OAC foe Mount Union is second and Calvin (Mich.) is third.

In the USA Today Sports poll, Northern enter's the Top 25 for the first time this season.

ONU’s Center for Teacher Education earns national reaccreditation

The Ohio Northern University Center for Teacher Education received full reaccreditation for its undergraduate teacher training programs for seven years through the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).
                 
“The reaccreditation of our Center for Teacher Education by NCATE demonstrates our commitment to excellence in our teacher training programs and assures our current and future students that our education programs meet the highest state and national standards for academic excellence,” said Daniel A. DiBiasio, ONU president.

Sounds of praise children's choir retreat deadline Jan. 4

The Sounds of Praise Children’s Choir will hold an opening retreat for all interested singers in grades three through eight on Saturday, Jan. 12, from 12 p.m. – 7 p.m. The retreat will be held at Grace Gospel Church, 321 N. Gilbert Street, Ada.  There is no charge to participate in this event.

Singers will participate in rehearsals and movement sessions, and the day will culminate in a community concert at 6:30 pm.

The retreat is designed to bring children together from various areas to prepare and share their vocal gifts with the community.

ReStore honors Pat Searfoss

The Staff and Volunteers of The ReStore Community Center would like to invite you to a special Crock Pot Tuesday (Dec. 12) to honor the beloved Director of The ReStore Center, Pat Searfoss.

ReStore Staff and Volunteers will be hosting the meal that night with ham, au gratin potatoes, green beans and cookies (and a cake).

Pat is retiring at the end of December  ending  six years in leading and overseeing this new faith-based non-profit organization.

Come wish her well and share in the memories and fun.

Festivities will take place at the ReStore Community Center, 210 N Main Street, Ada, Ohio.
Crock Pot Tuesday hours are from 4-6 PM.

2013 Bulldog Card sale underway

The popular sale of the 2013 Bulldog Cards is now underway.  The discount card offers free food and other money-saving offers at Ada, Kenton, Bluffton and Lima area restaurants and businesses.  

The Bulldog Card is a major fundraiser for the Ada Music Boosters. according to Dave Smittle, Treasurer.

This year's cards have a new design and can be seen online at www.AdaMusicBoosters.org. The cards are good immediately and can be used throughout the 2013 calendar year.

Bulldog cards are $10 and now available from any band or choir member, grades 5-12, or in the Ada High School office during school hours.
