Water Resource Plan update Wednesday

Ada Community Improvement Corp. (CIC) members will hear an update on the Ada Water Resource Plan during the noon, Wednesday, March 18, CIC meeting. The meeting, open to the public, is in the Deans' Heritage Rooom in McIntosh Center. Village administrator Jim Meyer will provide a brief background on the plan, and will bring CIC members up to date on the work that has been done in the past year or so. (Monty Siekerman photo)

Join the "PaintINN" on April 1 and May 2 at The Inn at ONU

The Inn at ONU offers two special "PaintINN" sessions this spring. Here's the details:

PaintINN this Spring at the Inn - Our first session will be a "Clay Pot" on Saturday, March 21, at 10 a.m.

You'll take an ordinary clay pot and turn it into a beautiful piece of art. While working, enjoy a Mimosa and a deluxe continental breakfast of hotel baked pastries and fresh berries. Please allow approximately two hours for this event.

"Fireproof" April 1 movie at ReStore

The next Wednesday afternoon at the movies at ReStore is the showing of “Fireproof.”

The movie will be shown at 1 p.m., Wednesday, April 1 at ReStore, 210 N. Main St., Ada.

Fireproof is a 2008 American Christian drama film released by Samuel Goldwyn Films and Affirm Films, directed by Alex Kendrick, who co-wrote and co-produced it with Stephen Kendrick. The film stars Kirk Cameron, Erin Bethea and Ken Bevel.

Observations, insights & sighting: Well, cook my goose!

Observed
Backyard basketball, coed volleyball, tennis play, joggers, runners, laggards, kids without coats (one without even shoes), dogs of all shapes and sizes along Main Street with their owners of all shapes and sizes. Gals in shorts (short shorts) guys in shorts (formerly known as peddle pushers), geese (see below), tulips and daffs showing life, winter banners on light poles that will soon be changed, trash in gutters apparent now that the snow is gone, smiley faces on nearly everyone.

It's a Hoot
There are 130,000 Canadian geese in Ohio, more than double the population of two decades ago.

Interclass winners 15 competitions ago

This year's Ada Interclass Competition is set for the end of March. Here are the winners from the 1999-2000 competition.

The Ada yearbook stated it this way: The members of the victorious senior class and the individual winners line up and let loose their pearly whites: from left, Noah Streib, Candice Van Hyning. Back, Mike Woodley, Courtney East, Pat O’Connell and Brian Ward. The seniors regained the cup from last year’s sophomores.

Malcum Patton was retired from Ford Motor Co.

Malcum Patton,  83, died on Sunday, March 15, 2015 at 2:29 a.m. at Richland Manor Nursing Home, Bluffton.

He was born on Feb. 29, 1932 in Marshallville, Kentucky, to Willie and La Mae (Marshall) Patton who preceded him in death. In October of 1957 he married Faye Poe and she preceded him in death on March 11, 2013.

He retired from Ford Motor Company after 30 years, where he worked as a tool chaser. He was a U.S. Army Veteran who served during the Korean War. He was a life member of the Ada VFW Post #9381. He was a member of the First Church of God in Lima.
