Calvin Fisher: helping to answer a need- Picnic in the Park

When Calvin Fisher drives around Ada, kids often recognize him.

That’s because for three years, he has helped run ReStore’s Picnic in the Park, which provides children with food and activities throughout the summer.

Ada's churches share their stories at Harvest and Herb Fest'

Each town's festival is unique.

A distinctive feature of the Ada Harvest and Herb Fest is the participation of a number of churches, which see the event as an opportunity to get the word out about their church, a.k.a. evangelism. 

Some churches make a few dollars for their mission projects through the sale of food and bake sales, but all are welcoming and hopeful that new members will attend. Both village and country churches can be found at the Fest.

Three groups hold trike-a-thon Sept. 29 for two great causes

The ONU Child Development Center along with Ready, Set, Grow Preschool and ONU Honors Programs will hold a trike-a-thon to raise money for St. Jude's Children Hospital and also for Amelia Griffin.

The event is from 11 a.m. to noon and 2-3 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept 29, according to June Zimmerman, director of the ONU Child Development Center.

It takes place at 209 S. Union St., Ada, in the Security Building parking lot.
 

Edgar Craig was retired from Rockwell International

Edgar C. Craig, 72, died on Monday, Sept. 21, 2015, at 10:55 p.m. at Hardin Memorial Hospital, Kenton.

He was born on May 8, 1943, in McGuffey, Ohio, to Nathaniel and Susan (Burton) Craig who preceded him in death. On Oct. 4, 1963 he married Carolyn A. Hinton and she survives in Kenton.

Edgar retired from Rockwell International of Kenton. He was a member of the Ada Full Gospel Pentecostal Church of God.

Also surviving are two sons: Keith (Kim) Craig and Eric (Tonja) Craig both of Kenton; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren; a sister, Mary Etta Ballinger of LaFayette.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Ressie Harner.

Women L.E.A.D. event moves to Kenton Elementary on Sept. 30

Due to the tremendous response and growing list of attendees, the Hardin County Business and Chamber Alliance is moving the location of the Women L.E.A.D. kickoff event to the Kenton Elementary School, on Wednesday, Sept. 30, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.
