Pettit College of Law Kormendy Lecture on ‘Self-Management and Mindful Awareness'

Ohio Northern University’s Pettit College of Law will present the 2015 Kormendy Lecture in the Large Moot Court Room on Friday, Oct. 2, at 11 a.m. The program will feature a presentation on “Self-Management and Mindful Awareness in Law School and Beyond” by Leonard Riskin, Chesterfield Smith professor of law at the University of Florida College of Law and Harris H. Agnew visiting professor at Northwestern School of Law.

ONU 2015 psychology graduates score in the 98th percentile on the MFT

The Ohio Northern University Department of Psychology, Sociology and Criminal Justice has announced that the 2015 graduating seniors in psychology, as a group, scored in the 98th percentile on the Major Field Test (MFT) in psychology.

The mean score of the 221 institutions using the MFT in the 2014-15 academic year in psychology was 156. ONU psychology students scored 180. ONU’s performance was equally impressive in each of the four subsets: learning, cognition and memory (95th percentile); perception, sensation and physiology (99th percentile); clinical, abnormal and personality (99th percentile); and developmental and social psychology (95th percentile).

Stuffed Animal Sleepover

Kids interested in letting their stuffed animals have a Sleepover party at the Ada Library with Ms. Natalie and Ms. Amanda should drop their stuffed animals off at the Library this Friday, September 25th between 3:30-4:30p.m.

The stuffed animals will enjoy an evening packed with games, storytime, popcorn and a movie, before we settle down for the night.

Did you know? There's lots of dinosaurs in Ada. Most reside at the First United Methodist Church, Ada. Two students interact with several of the extinct guys before class starts.

Chris Beaschler is a top Flyer - what a game against Robert Morris

Earlier this month former outstanding Ada High School athlete Christopher Beaschler (45) led the defense for the University of Dayton. The Flyers defeated Robert Morris 27-24 and Carl Wilkerson took some photos for the Icon.

The Dayton senior linebacker had 18 tackles including nine solos, two quarterback sacks for losses of nine yards and a deflected pass.

Beaschler is an athletic and academic all-league player and was named one of the team's captains this spring. He is the son of Ron and Christy Beaschler of Ada.

 

ReStore revival and benefit Oct. 3

The second annual revival and benefit for ReStore Community Center takes place from 1 to 3 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 3, at the Ada Church of Christ, 316 S. Main St., Ada.

Preaching will be Bill Roszman of Ada, Dee Whaley of Clyde, Jim Bloomfield of Marion and Ernie Pagel of Findlay.

Singing will be Sandy and Kaylene of Alger, Flora Adkins of Mansfield, Carl Woodring of Shelby and Wayne Vaughn of Ada.
