Joel Penton, who played football for five years on Ohio State championship teams, will speak at the Grace Gospel Church worship service at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 30. He is a motivational speaker with a relevant, positive message, especially for youth.
Penton was a member of 3 Big Ten championship teams, a member of a national championship team, and 4-time Academic All-Big Ten selection. He turned down an opportunity to play NFL football and begin a career in full-time speaking.

Charleen Gangemi is the winner of the 2018 quilt made by the United Methodist Women of Ada First United Methodist Church. The lucky ticket was drawn the afternoon of the Harvest and Herb Fest. All proceeds from ticket sales support mission projects.

Bethel Church of Christ, 4041 County Road 304, Ada, holds a back-to-school “Urge” event for 7th graders through high school seniors and the public, from 6 to 8:30 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 26, at the church.
The event’s focus, according to sponsors, is to encourage students to do well in the upcoming school year and to urge them to be who God wants them to be in their schools.
According to sponsors: “Urge is designed to help them to see the importance of shining their light and being Jesus in their schools. This year's message is calling for students to make an impact in their schools.”

Ada First United Methodist Church will host a community worship service at the Ada Schools to bless and pray for students, teachers, and staff. The service will begin at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 12 in the school courtyard.
Following worship, there will be a picnic in the cafeteria with food and drink provided by the church. Those interested are asked to invite family, friends, and neighbors and are reminded to bring a lawn chair.
The Ada Church of Christ, 316 S. Main, will host a Gospel Sing at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 26. Several soloists and small groups will perform. The program is free and open to the public.
