Five Polar Bears named to College Sports Communicators women's team

Ohio Northern seniors Meredith Miller (Noblesville, Ind.), Amanda Wells (Mason) and Isabella Orofino (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) and juniors Gabby Monastra (Wooster) and Grace Honigford (West Chester/Lakota East) were named to the 2023 Women's Academic All-District At-Large Team by College Sports Communicators.

Honigford named All-Great Lakes Region

Ohio Northern junior Grace Honigford (West Chester/Lakota East) was named to the 2022-23 All-Great Lakes Region Team by the Women's Golf Coaches Association.

Honigford closed the 2022-23 women's golf season as a three-time Medalist with a team-best 78.8 average for 18 holes through 20 rounds of play. She competed in 10 events and posted eight top-four finishes.

Ada hosts district track meet at War Memorial Stadium

Jolliff, Brown score 2nd place event finishes, King takes a 3rd

The Ada High School track and field teams competed at and hosted the 15-team Div. III district meet Thursday and Saturday, May 18 and 20, at War Memorial Stadium.

Columbus Grove captured the boys team title, while Riverdale captured the girls team title.

Bulldog baseball eliminated by Panthers in sectional final

McCOMB–The visiting Ada High School baseball team lost 10-0 to McComb in Div. IV sectional final action Thursday evening, May 18, to end their season.

The Bulldogs finished up 9-15 following the five-inning defeat.

McComb improved to 15-8 after the run-rule shortened win. The Panthers move on to the district semifinals at Findlay May 24. 

“We ran into a buzzsaw,” said Ada first-year baseball head coach Toby Smith. “Baseball is tough sometimes. They hit everything where we weren’t.

“We just could not get that important out when we needed to stop the bleeding,” he continued. “Give them credit. They hit and pitched well. They are a good team and deserve to move on.”

The Panthers plated four runs in each of the first two innings to seize command early, 8-0.

Bassitt repeats on All-NWC softball 1st team

Allen East’s Brooks named NWC’s top player

Ada sophomore standout Jenna Bassitt was named first team All-Northwest Conference in softball for the second straight year in voting conducted by the league coaches Tuesday evening in Delphos.
