Fundraiser delay creates more time to help "Strike Out Cancer"

The Ada softball program's second annual “Strike Out Cancer” fundraiser was postponed Tuesday, June 13 due to rain and is rescheduled for Thursday, June 29.

The event will feature a varsity high school game between the Ada softball and baseball teams, a pre-game contest and a sale of various items.

Funds from the event held at the varsity softball diamond in War Memorial Park will be raised to help two Ada teachers.

A home run derby competition will be held from 5-5:45 p.m. This event is open to all ages, with no limit on entries. It costs five dollars to hit five balls.

At 6:00 p.m., the Ada varsity teams will compete in a slow-pitch softball contest.

A bake sale, 50/50 tickets and raffle baskets will be for sale throughout the event.

Ada Gators-Bluffton Sardines swim meet postponed again

UDATE: The Ada Gators swim meet orginally scheduled for Monday at Bluffton has been delayed a sceond time by cold weather conditions. 

June 13 weather is still too cold with a low of 47 degrees and high of 67 degrees.

Ada Gators open 2023 swim season vs. Shawnee

The Ada Gators (formerly Lost Creek) summer swim team dove into its 2023 season with a home meet vs. Shawnee Thursday evening, June 8.

Shawnee edged the Gators 348-305 in the combined final team score. Ada won the boys meet 196-132, while the Gator girls lost 216-109.

Landry Harriger won five individual races in the boys 9-10 age group to pace the Gators.

Lincoln Harriger touched first in four events in the 11-12 bracket.

Luke Harriger was first in three races in the 7-8 division.

Olivia Agozzino (11-12) and Kyleigh Nau each finished first in three races for Ada.

Brayden Miller (15-18), Jack Baumgartner (15-18) and Jason Emerick (13-14) captured two first-place finishes apiece for the victorious Gator boys.

Ada swims at Bluffton next Monday, then hosts Findlay next Thursday, June 15.

Registration for 2023 fall youth soccer is open

The Ada, Ohio Soccer Association has announced that registration for fall soccer begins runs from June 1-30 with these reminders:

1) A child must be 4 years old at the time of sign ups.

2) A child from any school district is eligible to play for us.

3) If your child is in U6, please mark their t-shirt size in the registration form. Please DO NOT mark that they need a jersey!

4) Kids in U8-U15 will need a jersey! If they have one from a previous season, they may use that.

5) The fall season games will start August 21 and will run through the end of September/early October.

Three Bulldogs compete at regional track meet

FOSTORIA–Three members of the Ada High School track and field teams competed at the Div. III northwest 10 regional meet Wednesday in Fostoria, with one making it to the event finals Friday, May 26.

Ada junior Jackson Brown qualified for the finals of the 110-meter high hurdles with a fourth-place showing in the 16-man preliminary heats Wednesday.

Bulldog Bassitt makes all-district 1st team in softball

FOSTORIA--Ada High School sophomore ace Jenna Bassitt was named first team All-Northwest District for Div. IV softball in voting conducted by area coaches for spring 2023. (Photo of Bassitt and McClain.)

Leadoff batter Bassitt led Ada in almost every offensive category this past season. She batted .514 with an on-base pct. of .618, a .757 slugging pct. and 28 stolen bases in 32 attempts.
