It's football Saturday in Ada

Made in Ada Wilson Football Festival all day long - 10 p.m. football drop

If football is your "thing," then you'll want to attend Saturday's Made in Ada Wilson Football Festival."

Here's the all-day schedule:

The event begins with the Wilson Football Factory garage sale at 8 a.m. and concludes with the traditional football drop at 10 p.m. in the Ada Depot Park. It includes an array of activities throughout the day that are designed to appeal to football fans of all levels of interest.

The festival celebrates Ada’s contribution to the gridiron sport, as all footballs used in the National Football League are made in Ada’s Wilson Football Factory. The event is sponsored by the Ada Area Chamber of Commerce.

Gone in a flash

Driving on County Line Road just north of Lincoln Highway between Ada and Bluffton, the photographer saw a deer in a field.

Stopping the car and grabbing a camera, only four photos were snapped, and the deer and its fawn (see photo 2 below) disappeared into the corn field.

This scene took place in less than 30 seconds.

Ada chamber unveils new logo

It's bold, modern and easy to recognize

The Ada Area Chamber of Commerce unveiled a new logo at its Wednesday morning breakfast meeting at the Ada Public Library.

The new logo replaces a logo with several decades of use, according to Deb Curlis, chamber director.

“Ada’s chamber board wanted a logo that is bold and modern, yet simple and easy to recognize,” she added.

The result is a logo with the word Ada in bold face capital letters.

Adding the word, “Ohio”  identifies Ada from nearly 20 Ada villages and cities around the United States. The most familiar being Ada, Oklahoma, and Ada, Michigan. Ada, Ohio, often is confused with Ada, Oklahoma, especially on the internet.

Tennis fun night set Sept. 8

Will recognize donors to Ada Park tennis refurbishing project; and don't forget to bring your tennis racket

A tennis fun night celebration takes place in September as a recognition evening for the newly refurbed Ada Park tennis courts.

Bryan Marshall, a member of the committee that created the refurbing program, said the event is at 6 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 8, at the tennis courts.

“Kids and their parents are encouraged to come,” said Marshall. Adding, “don’t forget your tennis rackets and tennis shoes. There will be plenty of opportunity for tennis action on the courts that evening."

There will also be some prizes for youth given during the evening.
