If you’ve ever tried to fool Charles VanDyne? Ask Brian Marshall how it is accomplished.
Brian lured Charles to a meeting at Liberty National Bank on Wednesday to discuss a recognition for Corsie Arn and Pat Crist.
Turns out the meeting was a surprise special event in recognition of Charles. The bank officially unveiled a plaque naming the “Charles VanDyne Conference Room,” and read a board resolution in his honor.
Attended by countless friends of Charles, who kept the whole thing a secret, the ceremony included the unveiling of a plaque and recognition to him for his many years of service to the bank.
Ada village council candidate Sean Beck announced that his campaign has received an endorsement from Ohio Senator Sherrod Brown.
The Beck campaign is excited that their message of transparent effective governance in our village is resonating with the people not just in the village, but around the state.
Sean said “I am honored, humbled, and incredibly excited to be endorsed by Senator Sherrod Brown. Sen. Brown is someone who truly cares about his constituents, and I've looked up to him for many years because of that. I am truly looking forward to being one of the Senator's Canary Candidates for the 2021 election cycle.”

Earlier this week the Icon sat down to a lunch with Brendan Jameson. We talked about a range of topics. Here’s a sampling the conversation with this Ada HS student.
Icon: What year are you in school in the fall and what does your class schedule look like?
Brendan: I’ll be a junior. I’m taking advanced chemistry, anatomy, composition I and II, Spanish III, trigonometry and pre-calculus, American government, special projects with ceramics and I’ll have one study hall.

Note: The Icon has followed Braylon Simon’s story since 2019. Here’s an update on Braylon’s Toy Drive, now underway. This is Braylon’s story written by his mom, who works in the Ohio Northern University physical plant.
After a year and a half of doctors, specialists, multiple tests and finally surgery, Braylon was diagnosed with Stage 3 Nodular Lymphocyte-predominant Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in April of 2018. He was 7 at the time.
He went through four rounds of chemotherapy and in August, 2018, he was able to ring the bell!
Braylon is now back to playing baseball and football and enjoying life as any child should.
