Jumbo Junior Farmers 4-H update

The Jumbo Jr. Farmers 4-H Club met at McDonald Township Hall on April 12 at 7 p.m.

Topics of discussion included; election of officers, club t-shirt orders and the enrollment deadline. 

The club also discussed upcoming service projects, including; roadside trash pick-up around the township, helping place veteran memorial flags at the Mc. Donald Township cemetery and planting flowers at the Hardin County Fairgrounds. 

The next meeting is set for Monday  April 26th at 7:00pm and Quality Assurance training will be presented. Snacks will be provided by Holden Lautenschlager and Jeffery Bushong. 

Bluffton business transfers to 3rd generation Ada family ownership

Kibee's Carryout now owned by Mason Klingler and Chloe Blackburn

FROM BLUFFTON ICON  - Bluffton's most popular business not in Bluffton, Kibbee’s Carryout, 140 County Road 313, today became a third-generation business.

Mason Klingler and Chloe Blackburn, took over ownership from Mason’s parents, Anita and Ron Klingler of Ada.

Anita said that her mother Barbara Hopson, owned Kibbee’s for seven years, and she and Ron have owned it for the past 27 years.

Mason is a 2017 Ada High School grad, and Chloe a 2018 Cory-Rawson grad, and currently is a student at the University of Toledo majoring in marketing.

The business offers 159 craft beer brands, which is among the largest selections in northwestern Ohio.

It's an open book this week at Ada Elementary

They are reading up a storm at the Ada elementary school this week, as its spring read-a-thon is underway.

Here are  classroom results from the first week.
• 513 books read by Kindergarten, first and second graders 
• 21,507 books read by third, fourth and fifth graders

If you examine the accompanying photo, you'll notice a mustache-growing event as part of this – and you may ask your elementary students to explain.

The read-a-thon also has a fundraiser element. Students are earning money for the Ada Food Pantry.

A $3,500 goal is part of this portion of the read-a-thon. See an Ada K-5 student to contribute to that goal.

Grace Allison, Ada High School senior, is the Mid-Ohio Energy Cooperative Ada April student of the month.

ONU law grad, Arlington native appointed Findlay judge

Gov. DeWine names Stephanie M. Bishop to Findlay Municipal Court

Ohio Northern University law school graduate and Arlington native Stephanie M. Bishop was appointed to the Findlay Municipal Court by Gov. Mike DeWine today.

Bishop of Findlay, will assume office on April 9, and will replace Judge Mark C. Miller, who was elected to a different bench. Bishop will need to run for election in November 2021 for the unexpired term ending Dec. 31, 2023.

Bishop served as assistant law director for the City of Findlay from May 2011 to March 2021. In this role, she managed and prosecuted misdemeanor criminal and traffic cases in the Findlay Municipal Court. Previously, Bishop served as assistant law director for the City of Fostoria.
