Evan Smittle participates in co-production of 'BARS'

Ada HS graduate served as a member of the arts management team

Evan Smittle of Ada was part of the talented cast and crew in the Baldwin Wallace University and Playhouse Square collaborative production of "BARS (Beatboxing, Acting, Rapping, Singing)" during the spring 2021 semester.

Smittle, a graduate of Ada High School, served as a member of the arts management producing team in the production.

Local students named to Bluffton's undergraduate dean's list

Bluffton University has announced the dean's list for undergraduate students for the Spring 2021 term.

Students with a GPA of 3.6 or higher are eligible for the dean's list.

Jumbo Junior Farmers 4-H update

The Jumbo Jr. Farmers 4-H Club met at McDonald Township Hall on June 28th at 7:00 pm. The meeting was called to order by Vice President, Samantha Blue.

Ryan Harpster led the Pledge of Allegiance and Tanner Schinness led the 4-H pledge.

Roll call, noted by Tate Ketcham, was responded to by members with their favorite ride. Attendance included eighteen members, 12 parents, and 4 volunteers.

Treasurer report was given by Noah Ketcham and a health report was done by Ade Bridenstine. The report was on sunscreen application.

A project presentation was done by Quinn Dyer on woodworking.

Youtheatre college scholarship winner announced

Marathon Center for the Performing Arts presented the 2021 Youtheatre college scholarship to CJ Miller. Scholarship recipients are chosen based on their participation in the Youtheatre program – the depth and years of involvement in the program, as well as identification of skills gained in the program.

A 2021 Findlay High School graduate, CJ is the son of Mark and Krista Miller. He will be attending Ohio Northern University majoring in Musical Theater. CJ began participating in Youtheatre in second grade, performing on stage as well as in the technical crew.

Gary Wells is one of my favorite teachers. The best part of my day during sophomore year was often our banter while I was working on my art. When I tried to think of the most interesting person to interview, Mr. Wells came to mind.
