ONU Women’s Chorus performs on Friday

The Ohio Northern University Women’s Chorus will present a concert at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 22, in Presser Hall.

The chorus, directed by Dr. Christopher Larsen and accompanied by Adam Fahncke, will perform Minnesotan composer Linda Tutas Haugen’s “Anne Frank: A Living Voice.” The concert is free and open to the public.

Spanning more than two years of hiding in the annex, the texts and music portray a psychological progression from fear and despair to strength and hope, according to Haugen.

3rd district court hears oral arguments

March 27 at ONU College of Law

The Ohio 3rd District Court of Appeals will hear oral arguments at Ohio Northern University’s Pettit College of Law on Wednesday, March 27, at 10 a.m. in the Large Moot Court Room.

The Ohio 3rd District Court of Appeals judges include the Hon. John R. Willamowski, the Hon. Vernon L. Preston, the Hon. Stephen R. Shaw and the Hon. William R. Zimmerman. Willamowski, Shaw and Zimmerman are ONU Law alumni.

Daylong event sponsored by Public Relations Student Society of America

The Ohio Northern University chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) will hold its 4th annual social media workshop Friday, March 22, on the ONU campus.

It offers professional development and networking, featuring sessions by public relations professionals who will share ideas and help participants increase their social media presence.

Hosted by the Ohio Northern University chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA), the keynote speaker is Amanda Todorsovich. She is senior director of content and creative services at Cleveland Clinic. She will address “Social Media Measurement: How Data Drive Strategy.”

Saxophone and guitar duo performs Thursday

Duo Montagnard, consisting of Joseph Murphy on saxophone and Matthew Slotkin on guitar, will present a concert featuring original repertoire for those two instruments at 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 14, in Presser Hall at Ohio Northern University. The performance is free and open to the public.

The duo formed in 2002 and has performed more than 300 concerts in all 50 states and 20 countries.

ONU College of Pharmacy honors three grads

Ohio Northern University’s Raabe College of Pharmacy recently honored three alumni with Distinguished Alumni Awards. This was the 10th year that Distinguished Alumni Awards were presented by the College of Pharmacy. 

David W. Bobb, a 1977 graduate; Suzanne Amato Nesbit, a 1984 graduate; and Joel M. Weaver, a 1968 graduate, were recognized for their outstanding career accomplishments and their contributions to ONU.

ONU nursing program makes its mark

Ranks 7th among 93 RN programs in Ohio

Nurses make an impact in their endeavors, and Ohio Northern University continues to make its mark in preparing nursing students for their careers.

RegisteredNursing.org recently ranked ONU’s nursing program seventh among 93 RN programs in Ohio.

The ranking analyzes several factors and is based largely on students’ passage rates on the NCLEX-RN exam over a five-year period, from 2014 through 2018.

College graduates need to pass the NCLEX exam to become practicing registered nurses (RN). The ONU nursing program’s five-year passage rate on the NCLEX nursing board exam is 96.6 percent.
