From Cardinal Health Foundation to help improve prescribing practices for pain management

The Ohio Northern University Raabe College of Pharmacy, in partnership with the Ohio Pharmacists Association, has received a $119,286 grant from the Cardinal Health Foundation through the foundation’s new Optimal Prescribing in Pain Management (OPPM) initiative.
The funded project is designed to improve pain management and pain medication prescribing by engaging community pharmacists to partner with prescribers and establish a relationship focused on improving pain management.
The English Department at Ohio Northern University invites submissions to the ONU Single Poem Broadside contest, according to Dr. Jennifer Moore, associate professor of English at ONU.
The contest is open to all current high school seniors. The deadline for submissions is Nov. 1, 2019, and the winner will be notified by Nov. 15.
This scholarship opportunity provides $16,000 toward a student tuition at Ohio Northern University.
"We're inviting students from all around the country to submit one self-authored poem for the chance to win broadside publication of the poem," said Moore.
Dr. Joel M. Weaver II and Barbara L. Weaver of Westerville, Ohio, have endowed a scholarship fund at Ohio Northern University that pays tribute to the past and opens future doors of opportunity.
To honor Dr. Weaver’s parents, Joel and Mary Ellen Frame Weaver, they have established the Joel M. Weaver II and Barbara L. Weaver Endowed Scholarship Fund. The fund will support scholarships for deserving pharmacy students at ONU, beginning fall semester 2019.

Paul White of North Canton, Ohio, has dedicated his career to utilizing his pharmacy skills and background to help others, and that spirit endures with the establishment of the Paul White Endowed Scholarship fund at his alma mater, Ohio Northern University.
The fund will support scholarships that will be awarded to ONU Raabe College of Pharmacy students from northeastern Ohio, with a preference to students from Stark County and surrounding counties. The first scholarship will be awarded for the 2019-20 academic year.
Ohio Northern University has received a $200,000 Nurse Education Grant Program grant from the Ohio Board of Nursing for the 2019-2021 grant cycle.
Funds from the grant will be used to increase enrollment and diversity of students in the BSN program. High-fidelity and virtual reality simulation training equipment will also be purchased with the grant funds in an effort to appeal to prospective students and offer technologically advanced lab experiences to current students.
ONU students place active learning and community involvement into action

Ohio Northern University will put active learning and community involvement into practice with the annual Ada Community Engagement (ACE) event from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Aug. 24.
The program is designed to engage incoming students with their college home and provide opportunities for ONU’s first-year students to contribute to the village and surrounding communities.
University members will travel to several individual residences to help with projects such as weeding, mulching and painting.
