Getting to know a new building in town is like meeting a newborn for the first time.

There are many questions, much anticipation and, finally after your first visit, you are sold.

The James Lehr Kennedy Engineering Building on the Ohio Northern Campus is the newest building in Ada, Ohio 45810.

And it needs some getting used to, but upon your first visit, you will be sold. Ada Icon took a quick sneak peek of the building earlier this week. Viewers will discover lots more about the building this fall.

Receives diabetes educators award

ONU pharmacy faculty member, Michael Rush

Ohio Northern University faculty member Michael Rush has been recognized for his efforts in providing high-quality health care to rural residents of the surrounding region.

Rush received the American Association of Diabetes Educators 2019 Strategic Initiative Award during the association’s recent meeting in Houston.

Rush is director of ONU HealthWise and pharmacy residency programs, as well as assistant professor of pharmacy practice in the Raabe College of Pharmacy.

Playing dirty for a good cause

Annual mud ball tourney at ONU

Everyone will be playing dirty for a good cause during the upcoming annual Founders Hall mud volleyball tournament at Ohio Northern University. Teams are comprised of ONU students. The schedule includes:

· Men’s division at 6 p.m. Aug. 30
· Women’s division at 10 a.m. Aug. 31
· Co-ed division at noon Aug. 31

The mud volleyball courts are located near the baseball and soccer fields on the west side of campus. Parking is available near the baseball field.

The mud volleyball tournament has been a Residence Life tradition at ONU for approximately 25 years.

$119,286 two-year grant to ONU College of Pharmacy

From Cardinal Health Foundation to help improve prescribing practices for pain management

The Ohio Northern University Raabe College of Pharmacy, in partnership with the Ohio Pharmacists Association, has received a $119,286 grant from the Cardinal Health Foundation through the foundation’s new Optimal Prescribing in Pain Management (OPPM) initiative.

The funded project is designed to improve pain management and pain medication prescribing by engaging community pharmacists to partner with prescribers and establish a relationship focused on improving pain management.

ONU English Department invites high school senior poems

Winner receives $16,000 toward college tuition

The English Department at Ohio Northern University invites submissions to the ONU Single Poem Broadside contest, according to Dr. Jennifer Moore, associate professor of English at ONU.

The contest is open to all current high school  seniors. The deadline for submissions is Nov. 1, 2019, and the winner will be notified by Nov. 15.

This scholarship opportunity provides $16,000 toward a student tuition at Ohio Northern University.

"We're inviting students from all around the country to submit one self-authored poem for the chance to win broadside publication of the poem," said Moore.

Scholarship honors support and encouragement of donors’ parents

Dr. Joel M. Weaver II and Barbara L. Weaver of Westerville, Ohio, have endowed a scholarship fund at Ohio Northern University that pays tribute to the past and opens future doors of opportunity. 

To honor Dr. Weaver’s parents, Joel and Mary Ellen Frame Weaver, they have established the Joel M. Weaver II and Barbara L. Weaver Endowed Scholarship Fund. The fund will support scholarships for deserving pharmacy students at ONU, beginning fall semester 2019.
