Helen Hadding was retired from Rudolph Food

Helen M. Hadding, 82, died on Monday, March 25, 2019 at 12:08 p.m. at her residence in Lima.

She was born on Feb. 26, 1937, in McGuffey, Ohio, to the late Neal and Marie Ella (Gates) Legge.  Helen married Arthur C. Hadding, Jr on March 17, 1953, and he preceded her in death in February 2015. 

Helen retired in 1999 from Rudolph Food in Westminster. 

Carlton Chiles worked at Sam's Club for 19 years

Carlton Scott Chiles, 49, died on Thursday, March 21, 2019, at 10:05 p.m. at Lima Nursing and Rehab Center, Lima.

He was born on April 20, 1969, in Lima, Ohio to Emil Eugene and B. Jane (Swallow) Chiles, Jr., who preceded him in death.

Carlton was a member of the Ada First United Methodist Church and a former member of the Shawnee United Methodist Church. He was a graduate of the Marimor School, Lima, Ohio. Carlton worked at Sam’s Club, Lima for 19 years.  Carlton previously worked at Harco Industries of Kenton. He was an avid OSU fan. 

Kikuko Hollan was born in Yokohama, Japan

Kikuko T. Hollan, 87, died on Thursday, March 21, 2019, at 3:47 p.m. at Hardin Memorial Hospital, Kenton, Ohio.

She was born on Feb. 25, 1932 in Yokohama, Japan  to Tomo and Kichi Takahashi who preceded her in death. On Dec. 28, 1956, she married Abe Hollan on in Yokohama, Japan. He died March 23, 2005.

Kikuko worked for 15 years as a seamstress for Elder Beerman in Lima.  She also worked at the the U.S. Army Yokohama Ordnance Depot #229. She met her loving husband of over 60 years, Abe Hollan, in Japan, having her first date with him with an interpreter present. 

Gordon Shivley was an ONU alum

Gordon R. Shivley, 71, an Ohio Northern University graduate, of rural Delphos, died on Tuesday, March 19, 2019, at 7:17 a.m. at St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima.

He was born on Oct. 2, 1947 in Lima, Ohio, to the late Cleo Shivley and Marjorie {Stover} Shivley VanTilburg. On June 28, 1969, he married Velma Paroubek, who preceded him in death May 18, 2015.

Gordon is survived by his daughters, Julie (Brian) Woods of Lima and Amy (Shane) Hoback of Wapakoneta; five grandchildren, Leah, Sarah, and Michael Woods, Emma and Claire Hoback; sister Beth (Rich) Lininger of Florida, and brother Ron (Joan) Shivley of Indiana.

Paul Reuss was an electrician

Paul J. Reuss, 76, died on Tuesday, March 19, 2019, at 10:17 a.m. at Blanchard Valley Hospital, Findlay.

He was born on April 19, 1942, in Elgin, Illinois, to the late Lawrence and Philomena (Rose) Reuss. On July 27, 1968, Paul married Jule Rose Sweeny and she survives in Columbus.

Paul worked for the IBEW Local #32 of Lima as an electrician. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Jenera.  Paul was a veteran in the U.S. Navy.

Burl Helton 1938 - 2019

Burl  R. Helton, 80, died on Friday, March 15, 2019, at 5:28  a.m. at Lima Memorial Health System, Lima.

He was born on March 30, 1938, in Falcon, Ky., to the late Charlie and Ivory (Gibson) Helton. Burl first married Betty Lou Legge and they were divorced. She survives in Kenton. His common-law wife is Wilma Crowe Nelson and she survives in Kenton.

Burl was a retired factory worker. He formerly owned and operated his own Kenton Refuse Company.  Also, he formerly worked at Broderick’s Forging Company of Kenton. He liked listening to Country Music and loved spending time with his family.
